This was mentioned about 2 weeks ago as a minor tidbit but now it seems like Clowney being traded to Miami might actually happen. He prefers to go to Philly or Seattle but it might come down to money and convincing him of our 2020 plan.

Houston just lost Lamar Miller for the year and are light on WR so current rumors are Drake and Stills being part of the package deal. I'm sure we can add a 2nd rounder too if that's what it takes. Clowney is a premiere talent and while I don't want to really win any games in 2019 IF Rosen is not our future QB, I think signing him long term can speed up our rebuild dramatically.

I'd like if we could pull this off and then sign him long term (once season is over). I was a huge fan of him coming out of college. I don't know how valuable Drake is to them right now with them getting Duke Johnson but I wouldn't give up Stills, Drake and a second round pick. Our second round pick is will basically be a low first round pick.

With that said .... Clowney seems to get hurt a lot so there is that concern.

Problem with this trade is you aren’t getting much.  He can’t re-sign until the end of the season, unless you think he is worth signing to a second tag, whoever trades for him will be in the exact same spot as the other 31 teams.

IMHO, Only a team who is “one player away” should offer more than a 7th.

Very valid points. However, we are going to suck this year and Stills has worn out his welcome by trashing the owner. If it's Stills, a RB who are always easily replaced and say a 5th or worse? I'd roll the dice. We can always tag him again if he wants to leave and either try to sign him long term or see if he changes his mind after our hopefully much better 2020 season.

Philly and Seattle may not be able to offer better packages since we can offer NFL ready players at positions of need. Texans went 11-5 last year and now the Colts will definitely not repeat that 10-6 performance. They are looking at a first round bye with some luck.

They definitely have been looking to get rid of Stills. this would get rid of his salary and give us a pass rusher. they said on the Joe Rose show this morning that they won't sign him unless they get some type of agreement for next year. At least ball park figures and years.

This is why you don't make this type of trade.   You need to stockpile picks for your rebuild.   If anything, Philly should be the one going after him.   They need pass rushing help on the edge.   A guy like him should be pursued by a team that's a couple pieces away from contending, not one that is completely rebuilding.

The 5 most important positions you need to build around on an NFL team. These need to be the "franchise players".

1) QB (Rosen or Draft)
2) Elite pass rusher (for other teams' franchise QBs) *** Needed
3) Left tackle to protect that franchise QB (Tunsil)
4) cover corner (Xavian Howard)
5) Elite receiver (??)

Everyone else is expendable but you need to build around these key pieces and as such ... why they are looking at Clowney. He is an elite pass rusher and they don't come around often. BTW ... he is younger than Wake when he joined the Dolphins and he had quite the career here.

Depends on the pick. If it's the two players and a 5th? I would absolutely give them the 5th. Who would we draft better than Clowney with that pick?

If it's our 1st rounder? No, that's still probably Top 3.

I'd be alright with them trading Parker.

He's missed 3 games in 3 years, so that's not a big concern to me.

Rumors are that we are the front runners but Houston is asking for Tunsil which is a HUGE no from me and Miami as of right now. Miami would want more than Clowney if Tunsil was added but no details as to what.

Not only should we not trade Tunsil but this year is seeing if Rosen is the future. With the O-Line already suspect, let's not remove our LT a week before the season starts.

Make it a 3 for 1, give them Stills, Parker, and Drake. Stills is a distraction. Parker is a bum. And IMO, Drake is going to have injury issues this year.

Give up all that to franchise tag him and have a chance to resign him next year? No deal. Drake, Stills or Parker alone? Done deal. Tunsil is out of the question.

Not sure how all that works. But I'd only do that with at least a firm 3 year commitment from him. I think I'd rather have him than those other 3. I don't think those 3 will be part of the rebuild anyhow.
