Not sure how all that works. But I'd only do that with at least a firm 3 year commitment from him. I think I'd rather have him than those other 3. I don't think those 3 will be part of the rebuild anyhow.

You can’t get a firm 3 years from him.  You get him this year, he is prohibited from signing an extension until the end of the season, Dolphins could sign him to a second tag but those are expensive.  Dolphins would likely get a end of 3rd round compensatory pick in 2021, unless they are active in FA, which they likely will be.

My Spidey senses tell me the only reason Clowney is considering Miami is because he thinks he can get stupid money like the Dolphins gave Suh.  As much as I'd like to see a player of his caliber on the Dolphins, the cost is just going to be too much.  Maybe we can draft a guy like him next year if Rosen happens to miraculously work out.

Texans are now offering their 1st rounder and Clowney for Tunsil. Dolphins are balking for various reasons but I think if Houston throws in a 2nd AND Clowney agrees to a new deal then this might actually happen.

I fear that we won't know how good Rosen can be if we trade Tunsil since the line is already kinda shit.

They don't like just the 1st from the Texans since it's likely to be a twenty something pick and not likely to get a LT at that spot. If they package it with a second they might be able to move up if need be.

Yeah, Texans went 11-5 last year, that's in the 20's. A 1st and 2nd might do it but not if there really is some truth the locker room preparing to revolt if Tunsil is traded because he is well liked and respected.

That is where things breakdown.  He can’t.

Lol ... They (Joe Rose and Dave Hyde) were discussing this today and the consensus was if Flores heard this was true he'd get rid of Tunsil just to prove he was in charge.

I wouldn't be surprised the more I think about it. Belichick didn't let Superbowl winning teams call the shots, so why should Flores let a potential 3 win team call them?

But from a football standpoint, while Tunsil isn't a Hall of Famer, he is good. Can he be replaced by a late 1st and 2nd rounder? Is that proper value?

What I don't understand. Is it that fucking hard to get a half way decent OL in the NFL? Not great, but not terrible. Seems like we're the only team to have this issue consistently for a decade plus. It seems unreal. Either good OL players in the NFL are like unicorns or there's something really wrong with the water in South Florida.

I don't know the answer to that because at one point we had 4 1st rounders on the line but still sucked. Not to mention it can't be coaching because we've been through so many. We've certainly tried.

The issue might be the fact that we have always ignored our Guard positions so every good player at the Tackles and Center is paired with the worst players in the league.

^^^ I really think part of the O-line problem for years has been coaching.  Some teams, Pittsburgh and NE for two, can seem to put together decent lines with nobodies.

Houston Chronicle reports that Clowney is refusing to go to Miami, who has the best package for Houston. He didn't sign the franchise tender yet so he has leverage, but he isn't holding out the whole year so it's limited.

Still, that should be that for the Clowney to Miami stuff.

Because Belichick has won 6 titles as a head coach, while Flores has won 0.

The funny thing is that BB pretty much has run his team the same before he won those titles. One has to wonder if it helped him build his "team first" title making machine.
