See if this allows us to void his contract. An injury prone wife beater? If we are able to, void his contract and use the money elsewhere.

This was over a purse she bought so you know he is a real piece of shit.

Any arrest or failed drug test allows all guarantees to be voided.   You guys can now cut him when the new league year begins and not take any cap hit whatsoever.

If he played in all 16 games the past few years then we just deal with it. However, his injury history is bad so far, he is still on crutches right now. We may definitely live to regret it but 7 games in 2016, 12 games in 2018, 5 games this season and now the probable suspension will be 4 games in 2020. We definitely have something to think about if we legally can void his contract and we can do it soon so we can have a plan for free agency and the draft.

That depends what the contract says.

There is no blanket rule that says any arrest or failed drug test voids all guarantees.  Many teams insist on language that a suspension voids the guarantees, a very few contracts (notably rookie deals with the 49rs) will include language that any fines also voids the guarantee, but that is rare.

I doubt many agents would be amicable to allowing language that "any arrest" voids the guarantees because of how easy a false arrest could occur.

If this leads to a suspension than voiding might be an option.

It's not a good look.  To point out, he didn't hit her, he pushed her against a wall and when he let her go she fell on his crutches and hurt her arm.  Still makes him scummy, but not Ray Rice scummy.  He's on thin ice for sure, but I think he stays on the team.

Yeah, this wasn't a situation where he threw her down a flight of stairs or anything. Still bad but I am leaning towards he stays with the team. In all honesty, his health at the time his suspension is announced may be the deciding factor.

While domestic violence is never good, this seems pretty minor. What happens next will largely depend on whether she is interested in pressing charges/cooperating as a witness etc.

After he was booked he was transferred to a hospital because he complained about pain in his knee. This is either bad that he hurt his knee during this altercation or he could've just used his injury as an excuse to bide his time in a hospital rather than a jail cell.

Whether she presses charges or not probably won't have an effect on his suspension.

If his injuries were healing, but got aggravated during the incident and he isn't ready at the start of camp, the Dolphins may have a good argument to have him start the season on the non-football injury list rather than IR/PUP.

If they "kiss and make up" the league would have a hard time suspending him on her testimony that 'media reports were overblown"

I think if the incident was serious enough for Howard to be arrested, then whatever she says now while wearing a $50,000 diamond ring won't matter to the league too much. They don't arrest you for he said/she said. He either had to admit some stuff or there was other evidence like bruises where he grabbed her.

Like I said above, his health may determine the course of action for Miami.

Charges were dropped today. He can still be suspended for 4 games since the NFLPA is run by idiots and it doesn't matter if you are actually convicted of a crime to be punished for it.
