I ran into #Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick last night, and if there was any doubt about him playing in 2020, there isn’t now. Fitz confirmed he’s playing and with the #Dolphins being very open about wanting him to play for them, expect that to happen.

This works out great, he can mentor whoever we draft (Tua).

He was on the Wingo and Golic show this morning and said the same thing. He seems ready to make another run at it next year. I'm fine with him being the QB of the Dolphins next year at this point.

I don't see how any would not like this development.

Not a surprise here at all. He is under contract and he probably doesn't want to retire just yet. 2020 is very likely to be his last year in Miami unless he accepts a backup role in 2021.

Odds are you would have said something similar at the start of the season about 2020, expecting Rosen to take over.

I'm sure if we look back I probably did, combined with my now trademark "I hope this journeyman asshole doesn't win a bunch of meaningless games and knocks us out of that #1 slot".

HAHAHA  I agree with you Edge. I kind of thought this was a given.

It really is the ideal situation. Fitz knows what his job is, he is a great teammate and Tua can learn a lot as well as getting healthy during the first year if he sits out for the majority of it. We thought it would be Rosen but seems pretty clear Miami does not so here we go.

I wish I could have the time to look back and see exactly how many people took the position that sitting didn't allow Rosen the opportunity to learn and develop but somehow think Tua will benefit from it. Tua won't have half the learning time either because he will have to focus on rehab.

I'm always for a young player to sit behind a more experienced player.

Rosen already played his first season and his 2nd season in Miami was supposed to be a lost season. So, didn't really make a ton of sense to have him sit after only playing him 3 games. It's sadly obvious at this point that the team will either have him be the 3rd stringer next season or trade him for a 5th rounder at best.

Learning by sitting is learning by sitting and the second example is a player spending more time in rehab than the meeting room.
