I was a straight-on kicker in high school, like he was.  I wore a special shoe that is not allowed in the NFL

RIP, I've see his record breaking kick more times than I can count.

Do you have half a foot like he did?  Pretty sure that's the reason he was a straight-on kicker.  I knew a kid on our offensive line in high school football that could kick the ball pretty far straight on, he was our backup kicker.
