Well let's look at New York which has more cases than any other country. Trump was getting bashed for limiting flights from places like China while liberals were encouraging partying and attacking Tucker Carlson for defending Trump.
Since you're specifically talking about New York, it has already been shown that NY's outbreak originated from
travelers from Europe, not China. Additionally, Trump's China "ban" did not apply to US citizens. So we are left with another southern wall or "Muslim ban" situation: it's a terrible plan that's also ineffective because it's incompetently conceived, but it was never intended to be effective in the first place. It's strictly theater for xenophobes.
But let's go ahead and give Trump credit for the "China ban" on February 2nd. What else did he do for the next six weeks? He talked about a "Democrat hoax," insisted that it would disappear, and took virtually no domestic action whatsoever.
New York City mayor Bill de Blasio and his health commissioner, Oxiris Barbot, to spend February and part of March dismissing the pandemic. They urged New Yorkers to disregard any fears about the virus and attend the Chinese New Year celebrations and parade in New York’s Chinatown.
NYC's Lunar New Year celebration was on February 9th-10th. The first C-19 case in NY state was on March 1st.
House speaker Nancy Pelosi did the same thing while promoting the Chinese New Year festivities held in her native San Francisco’s Chinatown.
Pelosi issued that statement on January 25th. The first C-19 case in CA was confirmed the next day.
Neither of these people are POTUS. It is the White House that sets the national response. So why has our response
as a country been so vastly inferior to S.Korea? Are we passing the buck to mayors and House members now?
