Talking about Nike's shitty practices is whataboutism.

Whataboutism is the way complete and total assholes justify their selfish and hateful ways by finding barely comparable flaws in others. 

They justify the pathologically lying of Trump with a single misstatement by Obama about AHA.

They justify one teams use of a slur by other teams using nonslur  nicknames.

They justify systematic and  systemic racism by police department with isolated counterexamples.

It is the favorite tool of the far right propaganda machine.  And no doubt someone will respond to this post pointing out a time in which someone on the left barely an analogous argument, claiming that disproves my assertion that it is a right-wing tactic but on fact confirming it.

Next they will be coming after the Patriots logo, you know a lot of those Patriots owned slaves. lol  The new logic will be that they are being glorified as a mascot, so they should have to change the name.  Some people just aren't happy if they don't have something to complain about, and the "news" media does all it can to inflame every situation to garner clicks.

If you think "Patriots" and "Redskins" are pretty close to the same thing, then you are contributing to the problem.  One of them is a honorific, while the other is a racial slur.  This kind of thinking is in line with, "If NASCAR gets rid of Confederate flags, then next thing they will have to put racial quotas on driving teams."  It's ridiculous and absurd.

But the most disappointing part of this is: what do you hope to accomplish with that kind of talk?  Is your goal for people to say, "You're right!  We should keep calling them the Redskins forever, or else we will have to also rename the Patriots"?

Nobody wants confederate statues toppled because they owned slaves.  This is a totally false narrative in the claim that if you take down Lee you need to take down Washington.  Lee doesn’t deserve a monument because if committed treason against the US to defend slavery. Washington didn’t fight a war to preserve slavery.

Humans are not comparable to pets.  This is why every pet is expected to have a legal owner, while owning another human has been outlawed for 150 years in this country.

To be fair: one of the argument made against legalizing interracial marriages is that allowing interracial marriages would lead to homosexual marriages...so the bigots got that one right.  😀😀😀
