THE ASSCLOWN AWARD

« on: August 07, 2020, 09:04:04 pm »

To nobody's surprise, my state is gripped with drought this summer.

What tips do you people know of for saving water

I know the obvious ones.

- Take short showers
- Only do full loads in the dishwasher and laundry
- Fix leaky faucets

what other ones would you add to this list?

Get a water saving toilet.
Don't run the water while brushing your teeth.

If its yellow let it mellow, if its brown flush it down.

Get a tap that mixes air in the water. This gets you a nice powerful stream of water, without actually using a lot of water. The ONLY time it is annoying is when you're filling up a container with water, especially a large one.

Shower heads can be changed as well. Both the head itself and a nozzle before the head. As long as the water jet is powerful enough, you can get away with using way less water.

Installing a system to reuse gray water will really reduce water usage, but it's expensive. If you were building a new home or doing some major renovations, it might be worth looking into though.

Don't let the water continue to run while you lather. Wet down and turn off the water. Wash your hair and face then rinse and then repeat for your body.

You can get those air things for a toilet also. I knew someone who bragged about how quick a pound of weed could disappear with that thing. Imagine a simple poop.

Don't let the water run when you brush your teeth, shave, or wash dishes.

If you don't have a low flush toilet, you can put some rocks in a 1 liter bottle (or whatever size you can comfortably fit back there) and put it in the back of your toilet tank.  It will save 1 liter each time to you flush.
