A grand jury in Texas is charging the streaming company after it released the movie "Cuties".   There has been a huge outcry about that movie, and it looks like everyone voices were heard.

I don't understand the mechanics of this.

It's a French film about the effects of sexualization of young girls. From what the article says.

Why would Netflix be criminally responsible? Does a Texas district attorney have the jurisdiction to send a company to jail?

I mean in theory I'm all about that. There's a bunch of companies I'd like to see in jail for a variety of reasons. Can a Massachusetts grand jury indict the Trump corporation for fraud from the Trump University scheme? Cause A+ if they can.

As the saying goes, "Any prosecutor can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich."

This tells you everything you need to know about every time a prosecutor is "unsuccessful" in getting a grand jury to indict a cop for charges of police brutality.  It is ALWAYS, without exception, because the prosecutor does not want the cop indicted.

It's literally impossible to fail to secure an indictment from a grand jury unless you are actively trying not to.  Only the prosecution gets to present a case in a grand jury hearing, and there is no defense.

I don't have an opinion on this show because I've never heard of it.  Pretty much the only tv that I watch is sports, history shows, and home building shows.  Every time I watch a sitcom or any other type of "regular" television, it makes me glad that I read books instead of watching tv.

I've seen clips that are pretty disgusting but I don't know that it is criminal. I was around very competitive cheer and dance for many years and this is nothing like it ... and that's the dance part. Seems like Porky's for very young girls outside of that.  Regardless of why she made it this is definitely an appetizer for pedophiles.
