I'm just curious what you guys would do in this situation.

I work weekends at a grocery store in MA.  Minimum wage in MA is $12.75/hr.  Next year it will go up to $13.50.

Our state mandate for Sunday is time and a third.  It will stay at time and a third for next year.  However, our store has kept ime and a half for 2020.  I have tried to work as much as I can on Sundays this year.

This coming Sunday, I will definitely work, as I don't see Miami beating the Chiefs (sorry, that's just my opinion).  However, after that is a HUGE game against the Patriots.

I have a had a really good year this year at both my jobs.

If you were in my situation would you work the full day Sunday for the money, or work part of the day and watch the game?

As someone who used to work every Sunday working retail, I am a much happier man watching football on Sundays.

Also your opinion on the Chiefs stinks, we match up very well with them.  If the Chiefs do win, it'll be because of their defense, not their offense.

If you reeeeeally want to make those fat stacks, you should work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for at least another year...with no TDMMC posting breaks.

Do you have options to watch the game on DVR delay?  And if so, do you have the ability to keep from finding out the result?  Also, would it just be watching the game or would you be watching with a friend or something -- is it a social event or just you by yourself?

Is there anyway the game gets flexed into SNF?  The current game scheduled for SNF is garbage (SF @ Dallas).

Since it is the Patriots, I probably would not be able to avoid finding out the result even if I taped it, being that I live and work in MA.  One of my coworkers is a guy younger than me who I suspect is on the spectrum, like I am.  He always likes to update me about the games.

I work my main job, healthcare, during the week.  I COULD not work on Sunday, but I choose to because of the money and time and a half

The SNF game this week is PIT @ BUF (and it's too late to flex to KC @ MIA, not that NBC would want to).  SF @ DAL is the week after, and the normal deadline to flex it would be today; there's been no announcement, and I don't think there will be.

There are only two games on the schedule that week that could feature two teams with winning records:

- KC @ NO (CBS would be crazy not to use their option to protect one game per week here)
- NE @ MIA

Literally every other matchup will definitely have at least one team with a losing record, and if NE loses at LAR next week, this game will too.  So given the poor selection, it seems likely that NBC will stick with the automatic draw of the Cowboys, even if they suck this season.

Just read that Cleveland at the Giants is replacing SF@DAL.  Sorry, but no team from the NFC East deserves to play in prime time this year.

Well then, with all that info, I think you need to personally decide based on your interest in watching live football vs. your need for the money.

I get to watch every Dolphins game because I live in Miami -- if it's a one-off, I don't mind missing a game at this stage in my life.   And that's especially because I watch the games alone since there's a pandemic and I'm not seeing my friends.

As a regular thing, though, no -- I'd probably watch the game.  Time and a half is great, but only if it's temporary.  You work to be able to live and enjoy things.  If you then skip the things you enjoy to just work more, what's the point.

I guess now that Miami's playoff chances are down to virtually zero, I should take the money

You should really try to work on your negative outlook on everything. That's the kind of thing that can suck the joy out of life. If you can channel your negativity to really do something to improve your situation (and then actually APPRECIATE it afterwards, similar to what Dave said above), then all power to you, but for things you cannot change, there would seem to be very little value in a constant negative outlook.

http://www.playoffstatus.com/nfl/nflpostseasonprob.html
https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/nfl/playoff-odds

Those two sites give us a 32% and 46% chance of making the playoffs, respectively.

Hardly "virtually zero" and if you'd told me before the season that the Dolphins would be in with somewhere between a third and even odds of making the playoffs in mid December, I would've been thrilled.

You are seriously the worst.  This has been an amazing season and you've done nothing but bitch and moan the entire time.  You have to be the worst Dolphins fan on the planet.  Do us all a favor, go root for another team.

This from the person who roots for results that hurt Miami's playoff chances?

twenty sixteen was amazing
twenty oh eight was amazing.

This is not amazing yet.  It still has a chance to be, but a small one.

Back to the original post, I've been trying to get the store to tell me if they are keeping time and half next year, meaning Sunday pay would be twenty dollars an hour.  No luck yet
