Although I'm not a Biden fan, I wish him the very best as he takes office.  I'm not one of these guys who wants the president (and our country) to do poorly just because I'm not a fan of them.  And honestly, although I liked some of the things that Trump did, good riddance.  I used to always say that I didn't care what kind of asshole the president was as long as he did the right things for the country.  I'm sure the vast majority of presidents cheated on their wives. I didn't care.  I didn't care that Bill Clinton was firing servings of throat yogurt down the gullet of fat interns.  I didn't care if they cheated at cards and on their taxes.  I didn't care if other countries didn't like us.  But jeez, Trump was just such an insufferable, narcissistic douche nozzle (and not to mention possibly off his rocker at the end) that for the first time in my life I was actually embarrassed about how other countries probably viewed us.  I was never going to agree with ALL of his policies.  But if he had just been able to keep his mouth shut and put the country ahead of his own ego, he actually would have had the potential to be a decent president.  So Donald, don't go away mad.  Just go away.  And be quiet please.

I'm also not the biggest Biden fan.  Of the democratic slate, he was my 2nd to last choice (aside from Bloomberg).

The idea that he's some kind of socialist is laughable, crazy talk.

I'm kinda like you Dolphster...I don't really care about personal misdeeds.  I do care about lying.  And not "both sides" lying.  Not coloring of the truth.  But the idea that there is no truth is something that really fucks me up and probably my single biggest beef with the outgoing administration.

I think Biden is a compassionate, decent guy.  I think his heart is in the right place.  And I think that he's moderate and not gonna be some kinda reactionary force that pulls us hard to the left, even though it might be what I prefer in some cases.

I will say this about Trump: As much as I hated the guy for his character (I think he's a narcissist at best, and a sociopath at worst), he wasn't really interested in doing the Xs and Os of the job.  He did some executive orders, but not really a lot of damaging policy that can't be undone rather quickly.  He got a lot of judges through and pushed a tax cut that will have lasting effects....and you can argue that the climate stuff will have long-term implications, but in terms of the actual policy behind it, I think we can recover fairly quickly.

Bush was a better human, but had long-term policy problems that still haunt us today: Iraq stuff, Citizen's United was awful....the Patriot Act.

Donald's Trump stain is cultural, more than legislative.  It's something we still have to reverse, but it's not something that Biden has to reverse.  The masses have to figure that our for ourselves.

Trumps worst act was his final one.  The convincing much of his base that Biden is illegitimate has push the country into its worst state since in 1860s.  Getting us involved in a war with Iran would not have been as destructive.

The nice thing about the people who bought into the "Biden is illegitimate" rhetoric is that dumb people have a short attention span and are easily distracted.  So they will move on to something else pretty quickly.  Within a few weeks they will hop off the "Biden is illegitimate" bandwagon and jump on the "Biden is going to take our guns" bandwagon or some other such nonsense.

I hope you are right, but I am worried because if you truly feel the election was stolen it justifies violence.

I'll take this opportunity to make a post that I wanted to make on 1/6 before other events intervened:

A big thank you to GA voters, who went above and beyond to deliver a governing majority.  There are many, many people who will have their lives notably improved over the next year because of GA's voting in the Senate runoffs.

In conclusion:
