If Pitts and Chase are both gone, we actually have more options. We can go Sewell. Go Parsons. Trade down a few spots and get Parsons/Sewell/Darrisaw/Smith/Waddle. It is almost impossible to not get a good player from where we are, we just may not get the one we want the most.
My gut feel is we have someone locked in at #6 from a narrow group, and I reckon it will be a receiver as it's the most likely option. No matter what happens, one of Pitts, Chase, Smith or Waddle will definitely be there. We know that, they know that, everyone knows that. There's got to be a reason we spent one of the two first rounders from SF to move back up again, and it makes no sense to trade down a few spots once that was done...
Major priorities are receiver, LB and RB.
We have many "workhouse receivers" but lack the real explosive one who can take it to the house on any play. The guy that scares defensive coordinators... I reckon there's at least three of those options of which at least one will be available to us at #6, and most likely it's between Chase and Smith. I'm less concerned about Smith's size that others, and we already have Parker and Williams for height: Tyreek Hill is a small guy, yet he's the biggest threat in Mahomes targets bar none - sure, Kelsey can hurt you over and over again, but Hill can kill you in one play.
Would it shock me if we picked Micah Parsons at #6 and maybe doubled down on defense to take Kitty Paye at #18? Actually it wouldn't - this draft is deep in WR and adding Fuller could be a stop gap and we pick up one (or two) late. Arguably LB is our biggest need gong in, and even more so with Van Noy gone - Parsons stock is reportedly rising and he won't be there at #18, so do we pull the trigger early? (or trade up from #18)
As for Sewell, he could very well be there at #6 too, although I think Cincy would be nuts to pass on him after Burrow got mauled last year - yeah they added Reiff to the line, but Burrow is too important to risk it. If he is there though, is he the missing piece and last high cost addition to the OL that will open running lanes as well as they protect the QB, or a luxury pick? Or is it a case of just being the best available player...
...which is pretty much what we could be looking at no matter what, the best available talent. It's a nice position to be in with the run on QBs at the top, no matter who we choose they could be the top rated linebacker, top rated offensive lineman, top rated tight end or one of the three top rated wide outs with out first pick. Our next two picks are also in a position where there should be great value available including possibly one of the best running backs.
What will we do? I haven't the foggiest clue. I suspect not many really do... but it's not that long to go before we finally find out.
