Without mentioning previous administration ... what are your feelings on what is going on? Our border has never been less protected and those who are here have never been in worse conditions. This month alone approximately 16,000 minors have crossed the border ... which was a record high. More caravans are on the way. We let them in and release them without Covid shots yet many Americans are already afraid of those of us who haven't had the shots.  Are you ok with this or does it just not matter as long as we have a Democrat in office?

I am not particularly concerned about the exaggerated claims of crisis now, just like I wasn’t concerned about the exaggerated claims of crisis back in 2016.

There are several things I am critical of Biden on regarding the boarder, but mostly those are that the refugees are not being treated humanly enough while also acknowledging the vast improvement he has made.

As for the covid concern: as the US has among the highest covid infection rate in the world, those arriving from other countries are actually less of a covid threat than my next door neighbor.  So any specific fear aimed at foreigners is straight up xenophobia.

Yeah, sure, there is a situation.

There are surges.   This is one, unrelated to who is in office.
We have a lack of resources that needs to be addressed.  The facilities need improvement.
There are a lot of kids because we're not releasing them on the other side of the wall...so it's not ideal, but it's the best we can do.

You're right to question it.

I don't have COVID concerns or crime concerns for caravans.  That's all scare tactics.

This is a humanitarian issue.  We shouldn't be using cruelty as a dissuasion technique.

Our border has never been less protected

That's just objectively not true, we have the most protected border in the history of our country currently. We have the most border patrol agents we've ever had, the most fencing and "wall" we've ever had and the most surveillance we've ever had.

There were points in our history where we had no border controls what-so-ever.

That being said, Biden isn't liberal enough for me, I'm for just straight opening up the borders and having unlimited immigration from our neighbors. Or do only extend that sort of courtesy to whites (canadians) and not brown people (anyone south of texas)?

Not loaded at all. I know my point of view and am curious as to the other side. We had AOC crying at the boarder before but has gone silent. I just don't get that if you are to be taken seriously. We are on pace to have twice as many cross this year as we did last. That's not just bad luck.

I think they were in worse conditions when we were stealing immigrant children and then deporting the parents.

I think "many Americans" are more afraid of those of you who won't get the shots.

Although I must say, it's pretty weird for you to invoke a fear of the unvaccinated in this context.  It's like if you were to say, "These immigrants are bringing GUNS across our border, which many Americans find dangerous and unsafe."  This is not really a good faith argument coming from you.

If you're talking about The Caravans of Filthy Immigrants Approaching Our Sovereign Borders, I would be OK with that under a Republican president, too.

The Biden Administration is certainly not perfect when it comes to how we treat people at the border, but again, coming from a person who thinks Biden should treat them far worse, I cannot take your criticism in good faith.

At the time, we were intentionally separating children from their parents specifically to punish immigrants in the hopes it would deter them from attempting to enter the country (legally or illegally).  That is no longer the policy of our government.

I would personally love to see all borders closed for a time. I think that there are enough people in this country to last for a while. I don't like that the USA is looked at as  THE destination for the huddled masses. Go somewhere else, or make your homeland better.

The reason many of these people are refugees is past US foreign intervention fucking up their country.

US is not the only destination. Many countries take in more refugees than us. We have a pretty horrible track record on honoring our requirements under international agreements regarding refugees.

^^^ Pretty sure that he said "many of these people are refugees..." And then you ask "Every single one of them?"

Many.  Every single one?

Many.  Every single one?

Hmmm... Reading comprehension, a dying skill set.

That's what republicans want. Then they want to address a pathway to citizenship but it's useless when 100s of thousands are pouring in anyway.
