Onto the 18th Pick

Now that our place is set in stone at #6 and we are almost assuredly getting Chase or Pitts, let's discuss the 18th overall pick. Do we:

1) Draft OT and solidify the line for years to come?
2) Draft a DE/LB out of necessity?
3) Package an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder to move up a few spots and get someone who probably wouldn't fall to 18?

Lot of factors at play but it might come down to what do we do about the position of need if not addressing it with the 18th pick? Can we get a quality Tackle or Guard in the 2nd round? Can we get a quality pass rusher in the 2nd round or through the free agency scraps? Is there someone we are keeping our eye on that we feel won't make it to us?

I kinda like the LB Michah Parsons, but I haven't done a whole lot of looking into it. He kinda reminds me of a Zach Thomas type of guy though and I loved me some Zach Thomas. Miami needs a guy that can attack RB's rather then try to catch them from behind.

I would take him, at this point I would basically take anyone that isn't a project. We did that a bit last year because we had the luxury of playing 2020 with no expectations but we should all expect big things for 2021 so we need starters now out of our first few picks.

Seeing as both lines need fortifying, you take the BPA on either line.  Guys like Christian Darrisaw, Rashawn Slater, Christian Barrimore, Kwitty Paye, and Greg Rousseau/Jalean Phillips should all be available at #18.

Not against drafting another WR, but only in the later rounds. There are only so many thrown balls to go around, I don't want one of our 1st rounders to barely play due to there being too many players at WR already.

WR is deep enough that we really don't need to go back to back on them in rd 1. Give me the best O-line or front-7 stud available for pick #18.

If Devonta Smith is somehow available at 18, I would have a hard time passing on him as long as he didn't fall due to injury or prison concerns. That being said, a lot of stuff would have to go wrong for him to fall to us.

Let's play Devil's Advocate here. If Devonta Smith is still on the board at 14, do we try to move up and get him? Do we do the same if Waddle is still there at 14?

I was doing a mock for Miami last night that had my 49ers getting Trevor Lawrence at #3. I know it's a mock and not real, but I have to say it felt good seeing his name next to the 49ers.

I don't think Dolphins are moving up to get a WR unless they end up with Sewell at #6 which is always a possibility.

If they take Sewell because Chase and Pitts are gone, I can absolutely see us moving up from 18 to get Smith or Waddle. Should only cost a 2nd rounder.
