The Passion of the Christ is a Biblical account of Jesus' death. I'm not sure how well it will translate or be entertaining to someone who doesn't follow Him although it is kind of intense if I remember correctly. They are in the process of making the resurrection movie ala Passion of the Christ 2 now.

The Passion of the Christ is very good, gripping movie.  It's not in english so you are reading subtitles but it's not that distracting, you just have to watch it like you're in a theater where people are not talking and distracting you.  Mel Gibson directed it and got a lot of backlash because some Jewish organizations said it unfairly portrayed Jews.
I never really got that about the Jews. The Bible clearly explains that Christ had to be sacrificed and die because of us. I killed Christ. You killed Christ and so on. The Jewish leaders and Pontius Pilate were just the instruments of His death. Jesus acknowledged Judas' betrayal before he went to betray Him, and even stopped Peter from using his sword to defend Him all the while explaining He could stop this if he really wanted to.

Mathew 26:52 “Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him. “For all who draw the sword will die by the sword. 53 Are you not aware that I can call on My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels? 54 But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen this way?”

I wonder why Jesus only rated 12 legions of angels...was there a staffing shortage in heaven at the time? Did God want to keep the amount of overtime down?

Enquiring agnostic minds want to know...

I understand this interpretation, but like any movie about a subject like this, there are multiple source materials, historical record, and artistic license, as well.  With the bible, now you're dealing with translation not only across languages, but across eras.  It doesn't necessarily have to be a shot for shot slave to the bible, either.  You have wiggle room to tell the parts of the story that aren't included, or pick and choose what works for whatever themes you're trying to get across.

I'm not going to get into the nitty gritty here about source materials and historical records (or lack thereof) .. I will just say that having watched the passion of the christ years ago .. cinematically it's little more than snuff pornography. I do appreciate some old school gun totin' NRA president 10 commandments tho.

Example of that translation effect... The miracle of Jesus "walking on the water" wasn't actually a miracle at all. In that time, the phrase "walk on the water" literally meant to walk along the shore...
