My daughter tested positive.  I have the same symptoms (light cold) and tested negative, but we live together, so it's probably likely that I either tested too early in the cycle or that there's something going on where because I'm vaccinated and boosted that it's mild enough that's it's not showing, maybe???  I don't know the science of that, but it's just a hypothesis.

I think it's pretty unlikely that we developed independent sicknesses despite being all around each other for the last week.

Also, my wife has been sick for probably 7 days, but she also tested negative early in that cycle.  However, her symptoms seemed a bit different than mine.

We've not had the ability to re-test.  I waited in a line for 5 hours and 40 minutes yesterday to get a government-provided test because they aren't available in stores...everyone has COVID near me...friends and family, etc.  I would never have waited that long, but I didn't know prior to getting in the line.  They really do need some kind of sign that says "5 hour wait from this point".

Anyway, there's really nothing to do but wait it out.  My symptoms are very mild.

In my circles, everyone is getting COVID, independent of each other.

Friends and family who all haven't been around each other are all getting it from different circles, but at least in everyone I know, everyone has been vaccinated and they've had mild (sometimes one day) or cold-symptoms and that was it, which is good.

This Omicron being so dominant yet not as deadly might be our ticket out of this.

My wife is pregnant and AMA, so we're being extra careful.  We got boosters early this month, not around anyone or do anything.  I think we'll try to stay in a bubble as much as possible until little Tenshot is born.

Both me and my GF have Covid currently. She started to feel a scratch in her throat and tested negative. Then boom, full blown cold symptoms and tested positive 2 days later. I on the other hand felt great for days and tested negative twice in 3 days and then over night on xmas went from fine to sick as a dog and tested positive. It's nothing more than a cold, but we are both fully vaxxed and boosted. Maybe that has something to do with the symptoms being on the more mild side? I'd like to think so. She's on day 6 and feeling fine now and i'm on day 3 and on the up and up. We both are staying indoors and away from folks for the recommended 10 days. It really put a damper on our Christmas and new years but better safe than sorry for our families. I wonder when this whole thing will be just like the days of the past when someone is sick and we just avoid them the best we can at work and go on with our day.

Good luck.

I will say, I can report that so far, I've been boosted and things have been super duper mild....like less than a regular cold.  Had I not known about COVID exposure and all of that, I wouldn't even be doing anything differently.

My Daughter has it again right now. Tested positive yesterday. So far no symptoms for my wife and I, but she hasn't really been around us that much as she's been working the 2nd shift so she's been working all night and sleeping all day and I don't drive her to work much anymore. My wife had the booster about a month ago, I had my booster a little over a week ago so maybe we won't get sick. My daughter is not that sick, cough, congestion, cold like symptoms but no fever and nothing like the symptoms she had the first time around. Pretty sure this is the Omicron strain but the test she took didn't clarify what strain it was.

My PCR test came back negative as well.  If I can find a rapid test in a day or two, I'll test again.

I'd almost rather have it at this point.

Omicron symptoms:

- Dry cough
- Sneezing

- Diarrhea

When I was a kid, this was known as a cold.

Note to Dave: I hope you and your family make a full recovery.

Omicron is weaker in those that have been vaccinated. The RN that I'm married to tells me that her hospital is starting to fill up again with CIOVID patients. Most make it a few haven't.
Glad that you've been vaccinated and boosted Dave and that you and your wife are just mild cases. How about your daughter?

Both of my daughters (10 and 6) have had both vaccine shots.  The 10 year old has cold-like symptoms, but has been dancing around the house all day and is fine -- but like any cold, it wears her down.  Not a big deal.

The other doesn't have symptoms.

My wife had it the worst of all of us and even in her case, it wasn't like the symptoms were diabolical.  She just couldn't rest because she was planning for all of this Christmas stuff.   She was mostly just tired and worn-out, but it lasted 7 days.

Sorry to hear that Dave. Hope everyone is getting back to normal in your house. I'm currently getting over the flu or something similar. Been running fevers since Saturday night but tested negative for Covid. Seems to have broken during the night.

I never got diarrhea from a cold.

But very quick but also not particularly foolproof way to determine common cold vs Covid ---- how is your sense of smell? Covid frequently results in loss of smell.  Cold and most other stuff not so much.  Not nearly as accurate as an actual test, but if you loss smell probably Covid.
