Regular season stats for all three.

We could have had either Chase or Pitts with the pick we traded, so I think this is consequential.

Waddle :

Receptions : 104 ( rookie record )
Yards : 1,015
YPC : 10 ( will be officially lower )
TD : 6

Chase :

Receptions :  81
Yards :  1,455 ( just shy of rookie record )
YPC : 18.1 ( will be officially lower )
TD : 13

Pitts :

Receptions : 66
Yards : 1,018
YPC : 15.4
TD : 1

Of course it will take a few years to truly determine whose a better player but.

Well Chase had a great year and looks like he could have a great career, to nearly get the rookie receiving record is pretty nice ( how impressive is that record considering it was 1960 and done in 14 games? ) and that’s a lot of TD’s. He has the potential to be one of those WR’s that just takes over a game and demoralizes defenses.

Pitts had a respectable year, but Waddle’s was better.

Waddle was very impressive, the YPC sucks and and it sucks we use him like Jarvis Landry but part of this is our line ( and maybe our QB ) that holds him back, but  he has the advantage of having the chemistry with Tua that the team managers wanted, so I’m not unhappy with having him on the team, but I think we should have used #3 on Chase or Sowell instead of getting cute with it.

All three are really good. I really think this pick is a wash as for who got the best deal.

Yeah, and it's not all cut and dry. Burrow is definitely better than Tua right now and Chase benefited from that. There is no way Chase has those numbers with Tua and Miami's O-Line. He wouldn't even have 600 yards this year because he wouldn't have time to do 10 yards. Waddle would have even better stats with Burrow.

Pitts did very well too. Honestly, all 3 had excellent seasons. In the long run, I would rather have Chase but for 2021, Waddle would've been the best player for us.

I'm happy with Waddle, dude is always open.  You can't ask for more than that from a WR.

Yeah, Waddle really did have a great year especially with the limitations on the line/QB.

Seeing how bad the line is though, I kinda wish they would have went with Sewell which was who I was kind of hoping for.

Still this looks better than it did around week 8. Since we finished 9-8 the pick swap thing wasn’t that bad.

Pretty good class of receivers though, should be fun to watch these guys for years.

Pitts did very well too. Honestly, all 3 had excellent seasons.

Heard it mentioned during the week that Pitts is only the second ever TE to have over 1000 yards receiving in his rookie season...

The other one was Iron Mike Ditka in 1961 - in just a 14 game season with 12 TDs. That's freakish!

Man what was going on in the early 60s?

the rookie receiving yard record that Chase came 30 or so yards short of was set in 1960 by this dude who also had 13 touchdowns!

I think this comparison is missing someone:

Devonta Smith:

Receptions : 64
Yards : 916
YPC : 14.3
TD : 5

I wanted Smith over Waddle at the draft, but I'm happy to eat crow and admit I was wrong.  Still, this looks like it's shaping up to be the best crop of top receivers in recent memory.

Thanks for adding this. I also kind of wanted Smith but am glad with Waddle there. Really good class though

Waddle and Smith made waves their rookie years, but with Chase, you might as well pencil him in for Offensive Rookie Of The Year.

This rookie class in general has been outstanding for non QBs.  Chase, Pitts, Waddle, Smith, Slater, Parsons, Surtain, Humphrey, the list goes on.

Chase had the better year, but I don't think we've seen the best from Waddle yet. Even if Chase turns out to be the best of the bunch, I don't think you can call taking Waddle a mistake.

All these 3 guys had great years and it's too hard to compare head to head as there are lots of other factors.  They all seem to be great, though.

I'm just happy that Waddle has proven himself to be worthy of a first round selection, I'm not going to worry about whether Chase or Pitts are marginally better.
