Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022)

Premise: A woman running a laundromat has tax troubles until a visitor from the multiverse gives her a greater task.

Rating: Batshit bonkers crazy and one of the best movies I've ever seen.

You might very well hate this movie.  It's completely absurd and insane.  The concept is off-the-charts.  But somehow, it's also a really smart sci-fi concept.  It's also incredibly hilarious.  And it's touching to the point that there were people crying in the theater.

I don't want to say too much about it, but I think that if you like movies, you should go out of your way to see it in a theater.  You will never see anything else like it.

Mix Together equal parts:
Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse
The Matrix
The Farewell (a drama about the inner workings of a Chinese family's blending of cultures)
and this music video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMUDVMiITOU

Nuts.

Sounds pretty freaky, which usually means I'll enjoy it. Unfortunately, it isn't playing at any of the theaters here in Prescott/Prescott Valley...or even Sedona. I guess I have to wait.... :-(

modified to add: I did find it at a theater in Flagstaff, but probably not going to drive 100 miles to see it. I guess I'm waiting

Do you live in the sticks?  It hide wide release this week (I think it's in 1800 theaters).   I'm guessing it will expand.  The word of mouth is great.

I saw today that it was averaging about the same per screen as Sonic 2, which was tops at the box office this week, so that's a good sign.  Maybe that will mean they'll continue to expand the release.  I bet this will have legs.

I just got home from the theater. Dave's review is spot on. And I don't often agree with his movie views.

The actor who played "Data" from The Goonies and "Short Round" from Indiana Jones was in this and apparently is on a comeback tour of sorts. I keep hearing nothing but great things about this movie, may have to pay dollars to see it as opposed to putting on my pirate hat for the usual Hollywood shit.

Absolutely fantastic movie. Incredibly original, hysterical, great story and just a great movie all around. Truly is Oscar worthy.

You should have given up the fact it is subtitled. I went to watch this and turned it off immediately. I have no patience for entire movies that are not in English.

It is not subtitled.

There is a section with the family at the start that is subtitled.  (And some other really weird sections where the characters aren't human).  But the vast, vast majority of the film is in English.

Yeah, that threw me off in the beginning too but I'm glad I stuck it out. It really is only in the beginning and sporadically throughout. It did not detract from the film at all. It actually gave it some cultural charm and the broken English was very funny throughout, especially "Racoontooie".

Just give it a chance and commit, Phish.  It really is a phenomenal experience and there's nothing else like it.
