I may be late, what place would 49ers have to finish for the Dolphins to have a decent pick What's a decent pick? Here's last year's overall table: https://www.nfl.com/standings/league/2021/regLess than 7 wins was a top 10 pick - even some 7 win teams. The year before that, 5-6 wins would have been needed for a top 10 pick (and not all 6 win teams), but there was one game fewer in 2020. Going back further shows pretty much the same. 6 wins in a 16 game season is a 50/50 shot a top 10 pick. With one more game now, I'd say 6 wins probably gives you a very good shot at a top 10 pick. You might get lucky with 7 wins, but probably not. If SF gets 8 wins, the draft pick is likely to be in the 14-16 pick range, although you could get lucky on unlucky. If SF make the playoffs with a miserable record, that would obviously tank the draft value (since those teams pick after everyone who didn't make the playoffs), so you want someone else to step up and win the division.
