They lowballed him last offseason and leaked negotiation details to the press which really pissed him off. Angered him to the point that he hit 62 Homeruns in his walk year. The Yankees paid dearly for that.

Highest AAV in MLB history. Sad thing is, team is still worse than last season because no other additions yet, just subtractions. I think we can all assume that Judge will not be repeating his 2022 season so unless they are adding more, the team is a fringe playoff contender. Money spent very poorly.

Baseball is in such good financial shape that this sort of contract makes sense ?

I haven't watched baseball in years, it doesn't seem to me like it draws NFL money

It will put butts in seats, eyeballs on screens, and jerseys on backs.
Letting Judge go to SF would have been worse financially.

Sorry, I should've clarified. The Judge money is fine, the rest of their payroll which is over the Luxury Tax limit was not spent wisely in many different areas. In order to make it back to the postseason, they're probably going to have to sign another $30 Million pitcher or pray their rookies all have ROTY campaigns.
