https://www.npr.org/2023/02/12/1156428862/us-shoot-down-ufo-unidentified-object-lake-huron

Another mysterious object shot down over Lake Huron today that makes 3 in 3 days over the continent.

Seems weird, anyone have any thoughts? Just the next level of international espionage? Aliens?

China seems to be restless and intent on starting WW3. Yesterday a Chinese warship aimed a laser at Filipino coast guards temporarily blinding the crew in the disputed South China Sea. weeks. Manila recently struck deal with the US for new bases so maybe they think they need to do something before that happens?

Do we know that all of these are China?

I know that the first one over S. Carolina, but the more recent ones were smaller and were not propelled, so they were just floating around.

The US Military is going to be cagey.  I don't think we want to show our cards about how good our tech is to detect this stuff, nor what we know about what we've found.

No, we do not but at the same time we don't seem to be too confident ... at least not acting like it.

No one – not the White House, the Pentagon or the government of Canada, whose airspace has also been infringed – seems able to say exactly what is going on with these latest downed crafts. This raises questions for top military brass and US spy agencies as well as for the potential safety of civilian aviation. - CNN

It’s probably China flexing its muscles a little bit. I don’t think it’s WW3 levels of escalation but a little tit-for-tat for our own spy plane fly over last year.

It is a bit concerning that something has violated our airspace repeatedly. A bit embarrassing considering the amount of dough pumped into the military.

It’s also interesting that for the last several years they’ve been admitting to craft they have no idea about. Is it a ruse to pump money into the space force or is something out there?

I wish more than anything we would confirm contact with aliens. I think it’s the one thing that can make us want to do better as a species and abandon our silly nationalism

Marco Rubio said it's been happening for years. Rubio tweeted 'The last 72 hours revealed to the public what was happening for years, unidentified aircraft routinely operating over restricted US airspace.'This is why I pushed to take this seriously and created a permanent UAP (unidentified aerial phenomena - equivalent to UFOs) task force two years ago.'

Rubio is the Vice Chairman of the US Senate's Select Committee on Intelligence and has long pushed for a 'destigmatization' on UFO reporting.

I wonder if China (and whoever else) is just releasing these things and they float all over the world, with no control.  I don't think you could specifically target an area, but maybe it's like Google maps and you're constantly just feeding data into a system.

That’s a good point. What exactly would be the benefit of these crafts when everyone and their mother has a satellite?

Yeah, who knows?  I wonder if we know.  And if we do, I wonder if they'd tell us anyway.

I haven't seen any credible speculation.

1. Closer to ground.

2. Cheaper

3. More manurable.

There's a whole research program in China on using "Near Space" as a distinct arena in conflicts. A lot of tangential matter actually public in Chinese academic journals, with references to military uses. It's pretty obvious they believe it's useful. The most obvious advantage is longer-term observations at relatively low cost. A satellite either zips over at intervals or is completely geostationary. The former doesn't provide uninterrupted surveillance, the latter means one satellite per target and an orbital height over 22 thousand miles (compared to less than a thousand for spy sat).

It's not the Chinese, it's aliens monitoring our development.  They shoot out of the bottom of the ocean at regular intervals and transmit their findings back to their home planet.  It's only a matter of time...

No way! .. They're coming from the bottom of the oceans because they're Atlanteans and they just have a much higher tech level than we do and are more advanced. They're also lizard people.
