THE ASSCLOWN AWARD

« on: September 11, 2023, 12:31:37 pm »

1) Tua and Tyreek, IDK.  They are just freaks.

2) I was right about something.  Xavien Howard is in fact a one-man mauling machine.  Are you people going to acknowledge that I am right?

3) Is this sustainable?  They did this last year, outscoring their opponents with their offense, but they could not keep it up and that's why they lost 5 out of their last six.

4) The refs were good in this game.  Yes, it's rare to see PI called on a desperation pass play, but he shoved him without even trying to make a play on the ball.

5) McDaniel was great.  Going for it and the clock management at the end of the first half was genius.

6) Pass rush was horrible.

7) The Oline was great.

Edit: More

1) How important is Waddle drawing coverage to Hill's success?  I had an idea of trading Waddle for a pass rusher

2) I don't think you can blame Fangio for the defense.  The players are just bad.

I agree with you on most things.

Tua and Tyreek are both very skilled.  Watching them work together is great and I'm glad we're getting past devaluing Tua because it's Tyreek catching the ball.  It's both of them.  Tua was also getting the ball to lots of other people.  The last TD was an impossible throw and an impossible catch.  They really are superstars.

As for 2, X just isn't as good as he was.  He is handsy.  I think that one of the calls was a bit ticky tacky, but overall, yeah -- he was getting beat so he was creating extra contact to not get burned.  It's what DBs too.  Ramsay out hurts and not having a pass rush hurts -- you are asking your DBs to do more and X isn't a superstar anymore.  He's not out there mugging guys, though -- it's just extra contact within the realm of football that got caught a couple of times.

Refs were definitely good.  In general, both teams were good, too.  Chargers and Dolphins made exciting plays, good catches, weren't dropping dumb balls.  It was a fun game.

I am concerned a little about how our defense over-commits to the pass.  It's all fine and good that we have guys covered, but it seems like there's nobody left to stop a QB from scrambling on us.  Maybe it was a matchup and Herbert is just wiley like that.  But Josh Allen will eat our lunch if we try that shit on him.

O-line stepped up huge with Armstead out.  ...best game from them in years, both with the run and the pass game.

Not going up fault X for a pass interference when you don’t notice most of the plays he wins. He’s still pretty damn good and everyone gets beat during the game. I’ve never seen anyone grade out anywhere close to 100% and pretty positive I never will.

#3 it’s not sustainable in shootouts because it comes down to luck or timing so much. We should outscore most teams pretty easily both with few that can unless we can get some pressure it’s just chance.

80s dolphins for real.

Pretty well spot on with everything else buddy but no I would not trade Waddle I missed the Marks brothers so I want this.

Yeah, it was a strange game in that regard. Take out those two PI plays and X was excellent, but in isolation they were very costly.

Compare that to the run defense and pass rush which was terrible apart from the end of each half when it turned out to be a major reason we won.
