This is just for fun and isn't an attempt to be mean or a dick or single anyone out.

I'm just scrubbing through old posts and will post funny Tua takes when I find them.

I've softened a little on getting Watson. By a little I mean that I'd trade Tua and a 1 (one) 2023 1st round pick for Watson. That's assuming that we have two 1st round picks in 2023. That's all I'd pony up.

I love Tua so much.

But it's really important not to listen to me.  I really liked Jay Fiedler, too.

In regard to trading for Deshaun Watson:

I would just like to say that none of this would be necessary if they drafted Herbert like I said they should have.

This is a good one:

Just for the record, I'm anti-Tua because I don't like him as a QB. Has nothing to do with the fact that I wanted Miami to take Herbert instead of him, has everything to do with the fact that I think Tua is a smallish, not very gifted athlete that throws with his left hand that was fortunate enough to be on an extremely talented Alabama team. No one would have known who Tua was if he played for University of Illinois I can guarantee you that. Herbert was the opposite. Completely under rated QB because he was on a very average offensive team. Extremely gifted athlete, doing things you cannot teach a QB to do with arm talent and ability. Tua and Herbert are on opposite ends of the spectrum and I thought Miami was making a big mistake taking Tua instead of Herbert when he was drafted and that opinion has only gotten stronger over time. I'm now convinced that Tua's an average QB at best and I don't think he ever will be anything more than that in the NFL. He was a college wonder that will go no where in the pro's. As more time goes by, I'm only becoming more and more convinced of that. He almost changed my mind the first couple of games in Miami where he showed some promise, but he's going in the wrong direction now getting worse each week rather than better. I thought Fitzpatrick outplayed Tua most of last year including late in the year and I think Brissett might just outplay him this year and frankly I'd rather see Brissett under center right now.

Watson may not be the answer, but he's got a heck of a lot better chance than Tua does.

You have a QB who, like Rosen, has never established the necessary level of play at the position on a consistent basis, whereas the alternative was a QB who's established himself as one of the best four or five in the league.

The Dolphins would've been fools not to determine the compensation needed to obtain Watson.  The likelihood that Tua will develop to Watson's level is small, even with optimal surroundings and backing by the organization.

Give Tua his dream surroundings and have the organization treat him like he's the best thing since sliced bread, and the chances he'll reach Watson's level are still small.

Good fun. I think I’ve been cautious with Tua so hopefully I don’t show up!

He looks damn good and looks better than anyone in his class he just has to stay healthy and show consistent play.

It’s been great watching good quarterbacking in Miami. I only saw late era Marino so with maybe a few games here and there this is been the best I’ve ever seen.

In regard to trading for Deshaun Watson:

I’m so glad we didn’t get Watson. The PR nightmare plus he is playing like crap for Cleveland and not to mention the capital we would have lost.

I will say, I’d be hella curious to see Herbie with our talent though. I’m glad we drafted Tua and think it will pay off but damn I’d still like to see Herb with our current weapons, just in case.

On keeping Flores, but ditching Tua:

I agree with almost everything in this article and it suggests that Tua should have been the one going instead of Flores. Can't say that I totally disagree although I hadn't thought of this previously.

Dave, you know I have been one of the primary Tua defenders on this forum.  I have had more knock-down, drag-out fights with Pappy13 over Tua and Herbert than any of you, by a mile.

Creating a thread to (effectively) just dunk on Pappy13 over and over is unnecessary.  I think he has come around.
We have to take yes for an answer with class and dignity.

I never understood the sweepstakes for Watson. I  never thought of him as an elite QB, and  I  still don't.  He's good,  but not great. The Dolphins definitely made the right decision to stay with Tua!

Well, to be fair. My post more reflects coaching vs who is actually playing QB. McDaniel is a real head coach who knows what he's doing. Flores is a scrub who would rather cry racism than actually admit to his own failure as a coach. If Flores was still our HC we would have had to have a different QB.

In retrospect, Fiedler was the best QB we had for about 15 years.  Up until Tua, I'd say only Ryan Tannehill was better than Jay Fiedler

Let's not be putting Tua in the HOF after only two games this season.  He does have skills, no denying it, and I'll root for him every week because he is the Dolphins QB.  BUT I'd like to see him make it through just one season intact, without going out injured for 5 or 6 games.
