THE ASSCLOWN AWARD

Do you go for two and try to make it a six point game?

Or do you kick the XP and make it a seven point game?

The Bills did the former.

The Dolphins did the latter.

How much time is left? That affects the decision. I hate when coaches start thinking about that in the first quarter. If that's your mindset just be a coach that always goes for two regardless.

I'm surprised this hasn't happened yet.  It would revolutionize the league.  Imagine if you had a punter that could also do kickoffs and you didn't even have a kicker on your roster.  I wonder how it would go.

What about longer FGs? Or do you just go for it on 4th once you cross the 50 or something?

Here's why you go for 2.

You get to go for 2 twice.  So, even if you don't get it, you have a chance to get it back.  By reducing it to 6 points, it now puts a FG in play potentially, as well, and you have a chance to win the game outright.

Depends on how good you are in 4 and goal from the 2 yard line.

For example if you convert 75% of the time you should almost always go for 2.  OTOH if you only convert 30% of the time you should rarely attempt a 2 point.

BTW that is the same analysis on if you should kick a FG or try for a TD on 4 and goal from 2.
