A buddy of mine who I've known for years and watched his kids grow lent his 16 year old son his car so the boy could take his friends out to Daytona for a beach bonfire.   Along the way, they stopped off somewhere to buy a bag of weed and got busted by the cops.   Because the car was used in commission of the crime, the police seized it.   Can my buddy get it back?

I'm not a lawyer but as I understand it ... Police "can" seize cars used to commit felony drug offenses and that doesn't sound like it's the case here. Sounds like he just needs to pay the fee at the impound yard and he should be able to get it back.

Getting offended by something you see on the internet is like choosing to step in dog shite instead of walking around it.

Unless FL has some crazy pot laws that make this a felony, I'd say your buddy can likely get it back.

But...that's Florida, so you never know.

They got busted with an ounce of Marijuana.  That's over 20 grams.  That's what makes it a felony.  Plus they planned to all share it.  So you add on the sale or distribution of a controlled substance charge.

Good to see the Free State of Florida has plenty of law enforcement resources to spend on busting people for possession of marijuana.
Apparently they have already solved the many other serious crimes going on in the state.

Nobody asked for your editorial comments about a state you don't live in.   If you can't help, it's better for you to keep quiet.
