A couple names I've seen mentioned:

John Harbaugh - rumors it could be his last year in Baltimore.  He's a talented coach and could make a comeback in Miami.

Chris Shula - Currently Rams DC.  A defensive minded coach could help the defense, which surely needs it.  Allows them to bring in a true OC which Miami desperately needs.

Whoever the new HC is I would expect a lot of the other coaches to be replaced also.

Chris Shula.... is that The Don's grandkid?   If so, bring him in.   That would bring some old timers back to the stadium for sure.

We couldn't be lucky enough to get Harbaugh.

I doubt Baltimore is dumb enough to fire John Harbaugh.

McDaniels isn't the problem Grier is.

However......

The greatest possible irony would be if the Dolphins were to hire Bill Belichick, he went 14-3 in the regular season and then won a 15th game in Dolphin stadium by defeating the wildcard Patriots.  Having him surpass Don Shula for most wins (regular season and post season combined) as a Dolphin while simultaneously eliminating NEP from their first post Belichick playoff run.

Belichick is busy getting stomped in the NCAA while being managed by his college-aged girlfriend.

I hope that it's still McDaniel.

I doubt Harbaugh will ever coach a team other than the Ravens...until he retires.

I hope that it's still McDaniel.

Me too

Is that what the kids are calling it these days? Getting managed?   Wink

There is no way Belicheat becomes coach of the Dolphins. NO WAY.  There's a better chance of me becoming a Jets Fan, and I detest the Jets.

Another name to toss into the mix - John Gruden.

I like Gruden, not sure he could elevate this team to a perennial playoff team.  I'd be willing to give him a try.

I'd cross his name out immediately if I thought of the highlighted bit.

We could be in the market in as little as three games time if things go badly enough.

Gruden is terrible.  I'd sooner hire Brian Billick.

If they are going to make a change, this should be it. There's been enough coaching changes for Grier to be a winner with one of them. McDaniels has only ever had 1 GM, I'd like to see if a different GM can make a difference. I'm not sure it can, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Unlikely it would happen, but possible.  If Ross wanted a move that would instantly take the Dolphins from largely irrelevant to being the lead story on ESPN this is the move.  And this would be a hire based on a short stop gap tenure at HC.  There is almost zero chance BB would turn down the chance to play against the Jets and Patriots 4 times a year.
