Took the Titans front office less than two seasons to decide that Brian Callahan is not their guy.   Cam Ward now joins a notorious club that also includes Trevor Lawrence, Bryce Young, and Caleb Williams.   QBs drafted number one overall whose head coaches got fired the same year.

The moral of the story being:  If you coach a team that sucks badly enough to get the #1 pick, that #1 pick might not be able to save you...

^^^ I think that's the problem with the way teams draft players to appease their fan base, if you are bad enough to finish last you have more problems than a rookie QB can fix.  If your team is that bad you need to start with offensive and defensive lines when drafting; suffer through another bad year then you can still have a high draft pick to go after some offensive weapons.  And you need a really good GM that can find some older players that still have ability to play, and want to play.

And therein lies the problem with the Titans.   They drafted their franchise QB, but had already traded away their second and third round picks.  They had a mid second rounder that they used on an edge rusher, then went safety in the 4th round.   Very little done to retool the line to protect Ward.   Maybe they were thinking they can get by with his ability to scramble.

Giants have fired Brian Daboll after his team blew yet another multiple score lead in the 4th quarter.

Yeah that was the third come from behind loss for them, prior to losing all three game had them winning in the high 90%ile in the 4th quarter.  Daboll is an offensive guy, so it's too bad the defense let him down.  HC's get locked into their assistants and never want to fire them, seems he should have fired his DC.

After his team had a 19-0 lead in the 4th quarter in Denver and lost 33-32, I would've gotten rid of the DC right there.  I wouldn't have even let him ride home on the team plane.   That was a defensive meltdown similar to the Oilers-Bills playoff game in 1992.

And now Jaxson Dart is hurt and Russell Wilson is ineffective forcing the Giants to turn to Jameis Winston.  Not to mention Cam Skattebo is out for the rest of the season after a promising start.   Looking at their 2025 draft picks, it seems they made the same mistake the Titans did.   They drafted who they perceived to be their franchise QB in the first round and then failed to address their offensive line.   They took edge rushers, linebackers and Skattebo.   While it's obvious they need defensive help, if I'm taking my franchise QB in the first round, my next pick is going to be an offensive lineman, preferably a left tackle (or right tackle if said QB is left handed)

A real Black Monday this time... no pissing around, multiple sackings right almost immediately after the last game. McDaniel seems to have survived the purge of 2026.

It wouldn't shock me to see Raheem Morris end up here as DC. He and Mike are very close after working together in Washington and Atlanta. Morris has said that he considers Mike his little brother.

I would love to see Jason Taylor get some kind of defensive line gig here after Joe Rose has gushed over his work with the Miami U defensive front immediately after the last game against Ohio State.

In direct comparison with our guys, they seem to be already at an NFL level knowing how to use their hands to advantage without giving away penalties. That's the sort of coach we need right now with our under-performing defensive front.

I'm usually skeptical of great talents being coaches.  I like medium talents as coaches.  I think when you are naturally gifted, you just can't teach that.

A handful of  star players have gone on to become great coaches.  But you're right.  More often than not, great coaches were bench warmers.

This is a surprise.   Two Super Bowl rings (and got cheated out of a third), multiple playoff appearances, and his team had a down year because Lamar Jackson was hurt for a good period of it, and they fire him??

The Dolphins should fire McDaniel and bring this guy in.   Instant improvement.
