A minor failure yesterday --

I took my daughter to a school audition and didn't properly plan ahead.  I got caught as a captive audience in a situation where she was going to go a long time without food, in addition to the nerves of the audition.  I didn't feel right about that, so I bought her a $2 bag of chips.

Not a big deal, but in the interest of full disclosure (and the fact that I caused it by not being prepared), I thought I'd mention it.

Was that the cheapest bag of chips you could possibly get?

Yeah, it was the PTA selling chips at a table in the cafeteria.  But I would've paid whatever.  It was essentially a donation to the school PTA, but really it came down to me being unprepared.  The saving $2 wasn't really the point.

I did take my jar of saved change to the Coinstar kiosk and to avoid a free, I got a gift card to Home Depot.  I have to fix my sprinkers, so I can use the money for new heads and stuff.

Being unprepared is understandable.   And helping your daughter's school out by buying the chips is even better because the money is going to a good cause.   My wife and I have agreed to deposit the $42 we saved this month on cable/internet into a savings account.   We're going to deposit $20 extra into our savings account for the month of March, on and use the other $22 towards a monthly Chipotle night (we both love Chipotle and Frugal February ends March 1)
