https://www.espn.com.au/nfl/story/_/id/49022536/dolphins-center-brewer-reach-3-year-525-million-extension

The Miami Dolphins and center Aaron Brewer agreed Wednesday to a three-year extension that will make him one of the highest-paid centers in the league, his agent, Kyle McCarthy of Athletes First, told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal is worth up to $52.5 million with $37 million guaranteed, making Brewer the fifth-highest paid center in the NFL in terms of total contract value and the third-highest paid center in terms of average annual value ($17.5 million). It more than doubles the value of the three-year, $21 million deal Brewer signed with Miami in 2024.

The new regime continues to look like they know what they are doing. This was good deal for the team.

According to the article he is the tenth best pass blocking center and the third highest paid.

Unless seven of the top ten centers are on their rookie contracts, the Dolphins over paid.

Hahaha ... so true. The funniest part of the whole thing is he didn't make the pro bowl which further proves the PB voting is silly.

Like most contracts, it's basically a two-year contract at a reasonable rate.  Other Centers will get their contracts renewed/extended at probably higher rates which will drop him below the #3 ranking.  Now they have a year, or two, to draft a long-term starting center that IS a Top 5.

It feels like a perpetual cycle among the fans where the last failed contracts (i.e. Tyreek, Chubb, Tua) are bashed as obviously doomed from the start and idiotic, while the new contracts (e.g. Achane, Brewer) are praised as smart and forward-thinking.

Personally, I felt a lot more optimistic about handing out big contracts for players on a team expected to contend than I do about handing out big contracts for players on a team expected to pick first in the next draft.  But it's not my money, so...
