Why on Earth is he still playing?

Why is his wife allowing it?

Is football too dangerous to be played by grown adults?

Also, I'd like to add that booing him was absolutely disgraceful.  

Reminds me of when the Patriots fans booed Adam Vinatieri.


Skylar Thompson was placed on IR for the second straight year.  

Do years spent on IR count toward a player's service time in terms of getting a pension?

Against my better judgment, I have unlocked this thread and removed the bait.  Because there's so little content on here, I thought that there were some points worth addressing.

Tua doesn't sound bad at all to me.  I think he is perfectly eloquent.  I think he's generally OK, but I think he can't be relied on for consistency and the center/QB exchange continues to be a problem.  But I think he's probably above average when it comes to short/medium yardage, decision-making style game-management.

I kind of agree about "why is his wife allowing it", although I wouldn't phrase it that way.  I guess football players want to play football and they like the money, fame, acclaim, and being in the spotlight that it provides.  I guess he just doesn't want to retire this young and is willing to gamble his health.  It's like a soldier....why would you want to go to war if you didn't have to?

Booing him -- agreed -- classless and disgraceful.  Even if you thought he was bad for us, he was a stand-up guy and we released him.  He didn't ask to leave.

Thompson looked terrible.  But I think he's kind of not our problem anymore.  He must have something nagging, but I never really understood what fans saw in Thompson other than him being "not Tua" so  I don't really think it matters in the grand scope of the NFL.

As for pension, I don't have a definitive answer, but I'd assume the answer is yes.  You're still employed by the NFL even if you're on IR.  You still have job responsibilities.  It's just not physical.  I can't imagine the players association would allow anything less.
