Positives from Raiders game

First off, all 7 starting rookies made some plays. Caleb Douglas, Chris Bell, Jacob Rodriguez, Michael Taaffe, Will Kacmarek, D.J. Herman and  Kaden Proctor. Obviously they need to be more consistent, but they at least proved they can play at this level. That is more than we can say for most of the last regimes draft picks.

Achane looked really good and the oline apparently can run block. They gave him some running room instead of him having to make his own. Our LBer turned fullback (DJ Herman) did pretty well. Again, consistency is key.

Lastly, our Special teams suck because we have no depth. Special Teams is built around back-ups and we don't have a lot of back-ups who be playing much pastr this season. I don't know how to fix it unless we put out starters.

We are building for the future and the current draft picks seem to be up to the task. If last years would show up, then it could be much better.

I thought we tackled pretty well.  And I think that Willis was able to scramble in ways that we really haven't seen for a few years, so that was nice.

Didn't nobody have a good game?  We lost by two scores to among the league's worst team. 

I think it's just an incredibly low bar.  No fumbles, he ran through holes when they were open and they didn't use him a ton.  66 total yards.  ..not great.  He didn't embarrass us.  I don't know...it's hard to defend.

I actually thought there were a lot of positives that came out of the game. Willis running for that TD, that's something that's been missing from the Dolphins for a very long time. The play of Rodriguez. The play of both Caleb Douglas and Chris Bell. I was impressed by Zayne Anderson as well. I thought there was some good physical play at times. There's a lot of upside on this roster. Unfortunately there's also a lot to be desired right now. I thought the offensive line was pretty bad, I expected better. Special teams was horrible other than the one run by Wright. Patterson's one kick was terrible. None of Pinion's punts were that great. Coverage was spotty. But a lot of these things can be fixed. The question is does the coaching staff fix them or are they still making the same mistakes a year from now. Some of them will be fixed with roster churn. They didn't have the money to put into the roster this year, give it another year and lets see how much the roster improves.

Overall it was about what I expected. Some positives, but a lot of negatives that overshadow them and a lot of teaching that needs to be done. I wish they would have played the starters a lot more during the preaseason and get some work in before the season started, but that's just a dream I guess.

There were some positives out of the game.

Douglas and Rodriguez are the obvious ones.

Coming off that injury, every good play we get out of Bell at the moment is a huge positive, and I will take plays like that while he is still getting up to full speed.

While the secondary had the biggest question marks going in, Taafee already looks like an impact player. I was impressed with Johnston's 11 tackles, but he's got to tidy up on his pass coverage - I'm pretty confident that will happen soon enough. Considering they had zero help from the defensive front, I think the back half wasn't too shabby, especially after half time.

I thought the left side of the OL (Patrick/Proctor) looked alright. It's a small sample, but I have some confidence in those guys going forward... the right ride of the line though is a huge worry (at least it's not the blind side of a right handed QB).

I'd be interested to see how they rated Rodriguez higher than the Bucs rookie LB Josiah Trotter. Trotter had 11 tackles, a sack, 2 stuffs and an interception returned for a score.

Jake had a great game, but Trotter was insane.

I wasn't 100% sure how they graded so I looked it up.

I've said that since the fire sale. I even floated the idea of trading him also while he had peaked last season.
