One more week until my hottie and I head off to Los Cabos, Mexico for a "sales trip". This is the third time I've gotten to go on a distributor sponsored sales trip (a cruise 3 years ago, and Hawaii last year), but for the first time, I get to bring my wife!

I will take a pic of me sporting my TDMMC t-shirt. Too bad its an older orange one (Brian, you slacker!).

Anyway, has anyone ever been to Los Cabos?

Never been but I heard it's a beauty.  It's at the southern tip of the Baja, if I'm not mistaken.  I've heard they have an awesome harbor and their main industry is fishing, which includes deep sea fishing tours.  If you like to go fishing, Philly, you will be in heaven.

Sales Trip my ass

I explained it last year when I went to Hawaii as well. We sell our product thru distribution. There are lots of distributors out there, so they try to do things to distinguish themselves from other distributors. They have these sales trips, where they invite customers to someplace warm and fun. There is usually just one actual meeting, which lasts about 45 minutes (this is to satisfy the IRS). The rest of the time is really just for ass kissing and shmoozing.

The distributor usually asks the manufacturers to help fund these trips. We provide them certain funds based on how much business they have done. They usually then provide us with the ability to go on these trips. There are a few of us that are key in dealing with theses distributors, so we get to go (My manager, myself, and my counterpart for wood products). usually they have only provided us with 2 rooms, so My Mananger goes on the trip with his wife, and then me and my counterpart have shared a room. This year, they gave us 3 rooms, so my counterpart and I get to take our spouses.

If you were a politician I bet you would get in trouble for this.
