That barely audible sound was really that much of an issue?
Yes, you'd be surprised.  Nextel whines about EVERYTHING.

Maybe my hearing isn't what it used to be, but that phone has to be pretty close to your ears to even hear that most of the time. (Unless you're calling from a "quiet room")

I have the greatest phone in the history of the world:

http://www.sprint.com/business/products/phones/ppc6700_allPcsPhones.jsp

I'm about to get that one.  It is a beauty.  Because it has Windows XP with all the built in programs, it's very easy to understand the layouts.    Alltel sells the exact same model.  As an Alltel sales rep, I get to play with this as well as a bunch of other cool PDA's and phones.

I currently have a Blackberry

The reason I say I'm getting the PPC 6700 is because Blackberrys are about to get shut down.  Reasearch In Motion (RIM), the company that makes Blackberrys is having patenting issues with a Canadien company over the software.  A federal district judge is about to issue an injunction to stop them from operating until this issue is resolved.    This will cripple a lot of businesses as well as the government.  Alltel, I think, will offer a Palm Treo 650 or a PPC 6700 to Blackberry owners if this does happen.

I also have the following phones:

Business-  Motorola V710 with Bluetooth Headset

Personal-  Nokia 6255I (takes AMAZING pictures, some of which I've posted here)

I use almost all the features. I guess it depends what you use it for.

I'm a salesman, so I use it alot for contact management and reminders.

I also use it to play phatty ass games like Arvale II: Ocean of Time

I have a Motorola V710 (Verizon).  I use it as an MP3 player, and I use the Bluetooth DUN to browse the internet on my laptop at work.

I've had it since summer 2003.  I'm thinking about switching to a GSM phone/network next.

Unless you travel a lot overseas or spend most of your time in a big city, I would not recommend a GSM phone.  CDMA phones like Verizon and Alltel get much better signals.

The beauty of the PPC 6700 is that it has built-in Wi Fi capability (at least Alltel's version does).  That means whenever you're within a 200 foot radius of a Wi Fi hot spot, you can turn off your browsing feature, turn on the Wi Fi, and your internet will work even faster.
