I've noticed several times on this board that people abbreviate congratulations with "congrads."  There is no "d" in congratulations.  Why not "congrats"?

Sorry, this has been bugging me for a little while.  Thanks for humoring my grammatical insanity.

I had not noticed previously, but immediately noticed you did it and it bugged me a little. Then I saw what you were doing.

I'm all about the congrat's (or congrats if I'm lazy) ...though I usually keep my overly-anal copy editor persona under house arrest while I'm on these boards.  Undecided

I think we need to get back to speaking English...but that's just my humble opinion.

Since we are being grammar/spelling nazis, here's one thing that bugs me:

There is no "e" in ridiculous.

I am anal about grammar, especially the use of "your" & "you're", but also of the use of apostrophes.

I see a lot of people using the possesive " 's " when only the standard plural " s " is needed.

For example.

There are my CDs.
There are my CD's cases.

Even that doesn't quite get the point across as the "clear" in nu-cle-ar (new klee er) is two syllables while the word clear is just one syllable.
