LMFAO...Donovan (who, by the way, picked BALTIMORE to win the East last year, and Toronto to win the east in '03) writes:

"Damon's defection was the big news, but the entire '05 Boston infield is gone -- first baseman Kevin Millar, second baseman Mark Bellhorn, shortstop Edgar Renteria and third baseman Bill Mueller."

So let me get this straight.  Losing Kevin Millar's 8 home runs and 17 errors, Mark Bellhorn's league leading strikeouts, Renteria's .270 batting average and MLB leading 32 errors and injury prone Bill Mueller will keep Boston from contending?

And that, my friends, is why Donovan would have a hard time predicting a winner four days after a game.

I think the point he's trying to make is more on the basis of an entirely new infield trying to gel together. How will they mesh ? Who knows ? I still like them to win 92-94 games

The thought of Willis in the Bronx has me salivating. In MVP Baseball 05, that was one of the first moves I made in the off-season.

Denver - exactly my point.  He's lauding the Jays and running the Sox for having completely different infields.  I forgot...Troy Glaus and Lyle Overbay played last year for Toronto!  LOL.

This is one thing that cracks me up... people who predict wacky teams just to break the mold.

There's one sports talk host on Sporting News Radio, Kevin Wheeler (who by the way, has a pretty good show... unfortunately, we don't get it any more here) who has predicted some team other than ATL to win the NL East for the past two years.

How can anyone in their right mind predict ATL to lose the NL East?  They've been winning it since the first Bush administration.  Whatever potshots you want to take at ATL for not winning more titles, there's one thing you have to admit; they have that division OWNED.

Know something funny?  I was supposed to replace Wheeler when I was hired by One on One Sports, prior to their purchase by Sporting News Radio.  I think Wheeler is gone now, too.  I'm surprised that they kept Doug Russell over Wheeler, but that's how the radio world works.
