NFL Network's Adam Shefter reports that the Lions and Dolphins are expected to make a "major push" to sign Drew Brees.
Well, that sounds a lot better than wanting to keep Joey Harrington. Considering Oakland, Baltimore and the Jets are three other teams that make sense, but they all have cap issues. If Brees indeed becomes a free agent, he won't be one for long. Feb. 21 - 9:12 pm et

We should've had him in 2000, but Wanny thought Jamar "Damn, that receiver is faster than me" Fletcher was a solid investment when we already had 3 Pro Bowl secondary players.

For some reason, I found this hysterical...  Grin

If Brees passes the doctors' tests and is deemed healthy, I have no problem seeing Miami signing Brees to a contract. I'd prefer it to be a reasonable contract, obviously, but I think Drew is a high quality NFL starter and a massive upgrade to Headbutt and the Sagely one.

If the Lions get Brees, you can forget about them drafting Jay Cutler.  Then he just might fall to us at #16

If we pick up a quarterback via FA, which of our current three will go? I'd heard that we are gonna drop Sage this offseason no matter what, as his contract is too big. Does that mean we'll have

Brees
Frerotte
Lemon

as our QB's for next season (assuming this deal goes through)?

Isn't Drew Brees the same guy who obliterated his throwing shoulder in the last game of the season??  It's pretty hard to throw passes with a bum shoulder.  A bum knee or ankle, you can - just ask Marino, he hobbled around for years after blowing out his achilles.

I was going to say Pine-Sol's newest scent, but air freshner works, too.

The problem is his injury was recent enough that he really isn't in a position to be evaluated fully when free agency hits. He is going to be offered contracts on speculation of what will be. To throw out a comparison, Grant Hill was on crutches when he signed his contract with Orlando. Look how well that move has paid off.

The difference between Brees and Pennington is that Pennington rushed his rehab and came back nearly a full month before expected.  If Brees takes his time and rehabs properly, he can come back from this injury.  Pennington, on the other hand hurt himself worse by playing before he was fully healed.

Lemon Sage Brees sounds like the name of a Navajo indian stripper who, for a few extra dollars, will take you into the champagne room and let you pocahantus.  Shocked

You mean pokeahotass?  Lemon Sage Brees sounds like the given name of a life-long Grateful Dead groupie, who, at 60, still insists on ripping her top off at concerts.

There are a few other teams drafting before us with needs at QB. On the NFL network, they were saying that the Jets may take Cutler at #4 if he impresses them at the combine.
