What are your thoughts, Raptor?  You seem to ask more than you answer.

I agree.  But there was Law talk last year and he wasn't willing to give a hometown discount.  And, honestly he had a better year last year than anyone was expecting, so I doubt he will take a break again.

Just my opinion, but I'd much rather see Miami upgrade their secondary through younger FAs and the draft. Ty had an excellent season last year in interceptions, but he's coming into his 12th season (that's 84 in dog years) and that's a little old for a position that requires high end speed and quick direction-changing ability.

I'd rather take Nate Clements and Chris Hope.

Me too...unfortunately, that's not going to happen. Nate got tagged yesterday and Hope's agent is talking to Pittsburgh currently to get Chris signed to a long-term deal. Chris doesn't want to leave Pittsburgh either, so I don't think he's going anywhere.

i'd love to see him here, if the price was right....  although i read an article today about how at once point in the season he had twice as many pass int.'s than INTs....he plays a rough style...but i think we need someone like that back there.

ESPN insider has an article on this (thus my rant in the Around the NFL forum), stating that Law is too expensive for Miami.

I posted it over in the other thread...it was a blurb in their rumors section:

(2/23) Law too costly for Miami

As expected, the Jets and Law parted ways this week, largely due to the $11 million option bonus Law was due March 3.
The five-time Pro Bowl player says he wants to play for a contender and has identified Miami has an appealing destination. However, the odds are against Law winding up in a Dolphins uniform, the Palm Beach Post reports.

After playing for the discounted price of $2.5 million after foot surgery, the 32-year-old is looking for his final big payday in guaranteed money.

"I'd say around $10 million," Law said.

The Dolphins likely will balk at giving a big contract to an aging cornerback who at one point last season had nearly twice as many pass interference penalties (nine) as interceptions (five).

Meanwhile, the Chiefs and new coach Herm Edwards are expected to show interest, the Kansas City Star reports. The team will have to clear some cap space and is expected to approach several players about restructuring their contracts.

^^^

They have Patrick Surtain and Sammy Knight, They won't be able to afford Law either. Getting rid of either of them to get Law would be counter productive.

I live by my theory that it is more important to save the cap space and take a prospect than pay over the odds for an ageing unknown.
