Um no. He restructured to save them cap space, but he becomes a Free Agent after next season. I think they will take a QB in round 1. You don't pass on a franchise QB just because you have Steve McNair for another year.
True...if anything, I think it makes Tennessee taking Young at #3 more likely because of McNair's mentor status with Young. Bring Vince in and have him learn under a similar style QB that he already has a relationship and comfort level with.
I see McNair starting this year while the Titans try to cram as much of the playbook as possible in Vince's head (which, if test results are an accurate indicator, will require either a full brain transplant or merlin the magician). If Young struggles to pick up the offense (quite possible) and McNair stays healthy (historically unlikely), I expect McNair to possibly sign another one-year deal to play in 2007 while Tennessee "continues" to develop Young.
Then I guess you can scratch the Titans off the list of people needing a QB. Looks more and more like Cutler and/or Young dropping to us every day!!!
Bottom line is Miami isn't going to have any serious chance at drafting Vince Young. No problem... I do still hope Miami can see a way to move up a little and get Cutler though.
