For a great cause!

This St. Patrick’s Day, I will celebrate by shaving my head to help raise money to cure childhood cancer through an event called St. Baldrick’s Day and I'm asking my friends form TDMMC  to support me in this worthy activity!

St. Baldrick’s Day was created as a result of a challenge among friends.  Their idea to transform an annual St. Patrick’s Day party into St. Baldrick’s and raise “$17,000 on March 17th” for research is expected to raise $7 million in this, its 7th year.

Since it’s inception in 2000, St. Baldrick’s has raised more than $12 million and grown into the world’s best-known program for childhood cancer and it’s not surprising the cause is so compelling.  Despite tremendous progress against the disease, childhood cancer remains the #1 disease killer of children.  In fact, 22% of the children diagnosed today will lose their battle.  Fortunately, researchers believe a cure is possible within our lifetime – provided the funds are available to find it.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation grants event proceeds to research organizations like the Children’s Oncology Group, whose 5,000 members and 230 institutions collaborate to speed progress against cancer more quickly than if hospitals worked independently; and to establish St. Baldrick’s Fellowships, to encourage promising new medical professionals to pursue pediatric cancer research as a specialty.

Unlike many of these children who face an uncertain future, I am lucky enough to know that my hair will grow back.  So, if a little off the top will help save the life of a child, it’s a small price to pay.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation by sponsoring me to shave my head.  To make a donation, and learn more about the event and the cause we support, visit www.StBaldricks.org, click on “Make a donation” to submit a donation in my name (Franc Trinchi) , or call 888-899-BALD to donate by phone.  The website allows you to make credit card donations.

I have set a goal for myself of $500, but I am hoping to blow this goal away. Even if you guys will only donate $5, it will be greatly appreciated!

I promise I will post plenty of bald pics of me. I have promised to let the person who donates the most money take the first swipe at my head. But since you guys are all so far away, if I gather at least $100 from my friends at TDMMC, I will wear my TDMMC tshirt during the shearing! Talk about advertising, all of the local news stations and newspapers will be on hand!

Please have a heart and donate!

Holy shit!!!  How can I donate?  Can I send a little money through PayPal?  Also, see how your new Gillette Fusion Power razor works on your head and let us know.

By the way, I'm not going to keep it shaved afterwards. I'm goign to grow it back, so I won't be using the Fusion on my head.

C'mon man.  I thought the same thing about 12 years ago when I lost a hair bet on a basketball game.  Then the unthinkable happened...... I liked the way I looked with a shaved head!!!

I just showed Laura this thread, with the altered pic of me. She started cracking up!
Brian, if you go to the doantion page, you can se ehow long my hair currently is. We took a pic and put it on there, and I wet my hair and kind of made it "stand up" to show its length. I had been trying to grow it out, I usually keep it kind of long, but had worn it short since last Memorial Day. This is for a good cause though, so I will sacrifice my cool hair.

Man, that's a nice pic of you bald dude.  You look about 20 years old there.  At our age, that's a good thing.

I look young for my age. When I dress "casually" I have the messed up hair thing going on, and people usually think I'm in my mid 20's which is good since Laura looks like she's in her early 20's!

So anyway, GO DONATE!

Same here.  We're both in our early 30's, but could easily pass for early to mid-20's.  One time someone even carded me to buy LOTTERY TIX!!!!

I made a donation.  If everyone involved could match my donation, we would only need 14 people to donate to make the $100 goal on TDMMC.
