"Cock gobblers!"

One of the funniest lines of any movie.  Michael Bolton had just been informed by Peter Gibbons that maybe "he didn't have a great job."

Fast forward to a bar and this line that had me on the floor.

"Hey Peter, man - check out the girl on channel 9!"

Office Space is a movie that I wore out on VHS and now I am on to the DVD.  Amazingly well written and, sadly, not all that different from the real world.  Who doesn't have 8 bosses that don't talk amoungst themselves and all come knocking on your cube when you screw up?

Dom Portwood: Hello, Peter. What's happening? We need to talk about your TPS reports.
Peter Gibbons: Yeah. The coversheet. I know, I know. Uh, Bill talked to me about it.
Dom Portwood: Yeah. Uh, did you get that memo?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah. I got the memo. And I understand the policy. The problem is, I just forgot this one time. And I've already taken care of it so it's not even a problem anymore.
Dom Portwood: Yeah. It's just that we're putting new coversheets on all the TPS reports *before* they go out now. So if you could just remember to do that from now on, that'd be great. All right!

What office doesn't have that one co-worker that you like, but you can't stand to talk to for more than a couple seconds at a time?

Tom Smykowski: It's a "Jump to Conclusions mat". You see, you have this mat, with different CONCLUSIONS written on it that you could JUMP TO.
Michael Bolton: That's the worst idea I've ever heard in my life, Tom.
Samir: Yes, this is horrible, this idea.

Even the out of office stuff.  How can you not love the guy next door?

Peter Gibbons: What would you do if you had a million dollars?
Lawrence: I'll tell you what I'd do, man, two chicks at the same time, man.
Peter Gibbons: That's it? If you had a million dollars, you'd do two chicks at the same time?
Lawrence: Damn straight. I always wanted to do that, man. And I think if I had a million dollars I could hook that up, cause chicks dig a dude with money.
Peter Gibbons: Well, not all chicks.
Lawrence: Well the kind of chicks that'd double up on a dude like me do.
Peter Gibbons: Good point.
Lawrence: Well what about you now? what would you do?
Peter Gibbons: Besides two chicks at the same time?

And, of course, this jem after the ATM thing went way wrong:

Peter Gibbons: Lawrence, you awake?
Lawrence: Yeah.
Peter Gibbons: You wanna come over?
Lawrence: No, thanks, man. I don't want you fucking up my life, too.

Everyone's favorite Swingline fan...

Milton Waddams: [talking on the phone] And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire...

And the occasional one liners...

Peter Gibbons: I can't believe what a bunch of nerds we are. We're looking up "money laundering" in the dictionary.

From beginning to end, there is not anything that wasn't great about this movie.

Rating A++

Michael Bolton: I told those fudge packers that I liked Michael Bolton's music.

We reference this movie in daily conversations here in my office.  I swear you could replace the Initech logo with a Motorola logo and it'd be a documentary.

This is easily one of my favorite movies of all time.  I am ashamed I left this off my top 10 a few weeks back.

Does anyone rememner the "Terry Tate, Office Linebacker" Reebok ad?  After one tackle, he says to a guy: "You know you need a cover letter on those TPS reports, Richard, that ain't new, baby!"

Anyway, one of my favorite movies of all time, as well. Gotta be in the top 5 best comedies.

Some of my favorite phrases :

"I might show her my 'O' face...you know...'Oooh' "
"Federal-pound-me-in-the-ass prison"

I loved Office Space.  I can't really say anything negative about it at all.

Office Space is one of those movies I never get tired of watching.  Along with Clerks and Pulp Fiction, this movie has great "quotable" dialog.   It was filmed in Austin and used some of the local tech geeks as extras.   I know one of the guys in the birthday cake scene.

I loved this movie. I too have worn out the VHS version and have now started watching it on the DVD. We reference TPS reports almost daily around the office because of this classic comedy.  Grin

I thought it was OK.  It's very quotable, and funny in a Seinfeld-type "it's funny because it's true!" way, but the movie itself wasn't that amazing.

It's kind of like Napoleon Dynamite.  All sorts of crazy quotable lines, but when they try to insert an actual plot, it's pretty painful.
