Is it possible for Hollywood to make a good movie anymore?

It's propaganda if they are promoting/encouraging a gay lifestyle.  Since the film doesn't glorify being homosexual (lots of bad things happen because the guys are gay), I think it would be more accurate to say that the film uses a controversial topic to generate discussion and interest,  hopefully selling tickets.

To get back to the REAL topic here, what kind of movies do you like, Frimp?

Because, while those four types of movies are most definitely made and marketed the most, it's because they sell the most tickets.  Hollywood makes all kinds of movies, from braindead action to incoherent artsy stuff to everything in between.  If you can't find something you like, you probably aren't looking in the right places.

I've been a lot more happy with movies in the last year.  I've pretty much stopped going to the theater and started renting recommendations that have stood a little bit of time, or that come from those that have tastes similar to mine.  I've found that by skipping the first run of BIG MOVIE (King Kong, War of the Worlds, etc.) you can let the world sort through the crap and just pick off the top.

Superman
The DaVinci Code
Lucky Number SLEVEN

I enjoyed Batman Begins, and I think I'll enjoy the new Superman. I like sci fi, action, and comedy.

Sick of Hollywood? Want original & creative ideas? I recommand indies or foreign films. There is so much more out there than that crap they show you at local movie theater. You just have to dig a little to find the good stuff.

i agree completely...personally, asian films are my favorite foreign type of film, directors like takeshi kitano, akira kurosawa, yasujiro ozu, ki-duk kim, chanwook park, etc, are responsible for dozens of great movies most people haven't seen...check some of them out.

now, if you're looking for a REAL propaganda film, "Triumph of the Will" hits DVD on the 28th.

I told a friend of mine about the stupid and crazy shit we did in the field and when she went to see Jarhead to review it, she mentioned in her review how I had told her things she didn't believe until she saw that movie.

Yeah, I never believed my cop friend until I saw the Die Hard movies.  And I have an ex-NASA neighbor who I thought was a loon until I saw Star Wars.

This is one of the two movies that started this week that I really want to see. The other is The Libertine.

I saw Libertine yesterday. I would save my money and wait on it a little. V has not started here yet, but all the theatres are selling advance tickets right now.
