Looks like he can't keep the white powder out of his nose!!  What a fucking idiot!!!  The guy had a path to Cooperstown all but paved for him and he blew it.

Sad.  Just sad.  As a former Mets fan I just have to shake my head in disappointment.

It really wont matter much. He'll do maybe 10 days jail tops for a probation violation and be back sniffing in no time.

I'm not sure he was really a lock for cooperstown, but the guy threw away what could have been a hell of a career. That Mets team was something else. I would have loved to have seen what that locker room looked like.

Doc does not have the stats for the HOF.  194-112 lifetime win / loss record won't get you in.

It seems to be like he was hoping for jail, and a long sentence.  Maybe he has realized it might be the only way to get clean and stay clean.  I wish him well.

As is he definitely isn't a Hall of Famer, just that he could've been had he stayed clean. I believe his lifetime ERA is still pretty low despite all of his problems. He could've won 300 games easily had he not started his career with such a destructive team.

I agree that he does not have the stats for Cooperstown, but let's assume that he stayed clean all those years and pitched like he did from '84 to '88.  He'd then be in Cooperstown for sure.

Baseball's version of Lawrence Phillips and Todd Marinovich.  Some people just never learn, Gooden could've been remembered for greater things.  However, this is the life he chose to lead.  So talented, but so fucked up.

Plus, after reading his book in 1999, you would think he'd kicked the habit for good.  But now, not only is he on it again, but he's got his son doing it too!!!
