King of New York (1990)
Premise: A drug lord returns from prison and wipes out his competitors to increase profits, which he plans to give back to the inner-city.
Rating: Too slow to keep me interested.
Everyone is in this movie: Chistopher Walken, David Caruso, Larry Fishburne, Wesley Snipes, Steve Buscemi, and that dude that plays Michael on Lost....plus a few other guys that you know their faces. It was incredibly slow paces at parts, and then all of a sudden a lot of cool violent stuff would happen. Unfortunately, by the time something gruesome happened, I was too detached from the characters and irritated with the pacing, that I didn't care.
[SPOILERS] At the finale of the film, Christoper Walken's character is shown walking through the Subway. He walks along, goes out the doors, wanders through the turnstyle, and goes up the stairs. There is no dialogue during this. He walks along the street, and hails a cab. He sits in the cab and waits...and waits.....and waits. Then the panning camera reveals that he had been shot in the Subway. Still no dialogue. Cops surround the car, and Walken takes out his gun. ...more waiting.
This goes on. ...and on.
I'm so irritated at this point, I yell "SOMETHING FUCKING HAPPEN!" and at that moment, Walken slumps over and goes limp. Dead. Roll Credits.
That kind of summed up the whole movie for me.
