Premise: A neurotic comedian meets and falls in love w/ a goofy girl named Annie Hall.

Rating: Amazing!!

This has got to be the greatest date movie ever! Woody Allen had me cracking up. There's one scene w/ a very young Chris Walken that just played out so funny to me! I was bitter that this won the Oscar over Star Wars in '77, but after watching it, I must say this movie truly deserved it.

I can't watch more than 15 seconds of anything with Woody Allen in it without tripping my involuntary gag reflex...

Rating: Good

This movie was very well done, but I think I just have trouble relating to a neurotic New York Jew.  Still, it's worth watching for how it's done.  The makeup of the movie is very clever.  The "4th wall" is broken several times, and the actors are often used like an audience.  For example, something will happen indoors, and the main character will start spilling his thoughts directly to the camera...then he'll walk outside, and pick up the conversation with strangers on the street, like they were listening the whole time.

You're never really sure how much of it is the guy being a wierdo and how much of it is just clever storytelling.

There are other storytelling devices, like subtitles, flashbacks, cartoons, etc. to put together a story about this guy's relationships.

It is Tarantino without the grit, sort of.  ...well done, overall.  But a little hard for me to latch on to.
