I DVRed the game last night.  ...probably not that exciting for most, but it was fun for me.

I wonder if it means a lot for B-Ball programs within the state, being the first FL champion ever...

America's team

They earned it. I wasn't much of a believer in them, but they handled business. Now hopefully they all come back next year to defend their title instead of being the 12th man on some NBA team's bench.

I just don't want to start seeing Gators shit everywhere now.  Now, everyone is going to have attended UF, or been in Gainesville, or have relatives in Gainesville, or some other bullshit excuse to hop on the wagon.

I think it's a good thing for the state, and for the school.

I see 3928778 people at work today wearing something Gators.

They had to pull it out of the back of the closet and dust it off late last night Roll Eyes

Yep, same here.  I'm already seeing Gators Bumper Stickers and little flags on people's cars.

It's amazing how these paraphanilia items just start popping up.  Simply amazing.

Give them there due......they have not done anything in football since 1996 so I guess they need some self-esteem booster in another sport. Honestly, it is a great achievement and, as Dave said, good for the school and for the State.  Hats off.

Hey, I'm not NOT giving them their due, i'm giving these "all of a sudden" fans shit, because how convinient that NOW they like the Gators.  They never mentioned it or shown it before, and now they're "long time fans" and are wearing shirts, and have bumper stickers on their cars.

Hey, you'll never see me becoming a sudden GAY-TOR fan, and the only reason you'll see me wearing any GAY-TOR attire is if I lose a bet.

I think you guys are a bit delusional with all this bandwagon stuff. According to many people here there is a bandwagon everytime a different team wins something. Do you honestly think all these people went to the 24 hour Wal-Mart last night after the game and bought up all this stuff?

My guess is you guys never pay attention to the bumber stickers, flags, shirts, hats, etc. until a team wins something and then it sticks out to you. Remember not everyone wears sports apparel every day.

I think Jtex is referring to the average sports fan that doesn't really root for a certain team.  If you're a fan of a team, you stick with that team through good and bad.

Besides, it's not like we're talking about some obscure school -- we live in FLORIDA, and it's the FLORIDA Gators.  It'd be one thing if Georce Mason won and you started seeing a bunch of their gear.

ALL I have to say is NATIONNNNNNNALLLLLLLLL CHAMPS BABY!!!!!!

We dont need anyone's freakin respect, we went out on the hardwood and took it. We punched UCLA in the mouth and theY never recovered. Where is the ghost of john wooden? What happened to all that UCLA tradition? Their's a new general in town baby.

I know it's difficult for hurricoone fans, and that other school in tally-crappy to accept the fact that your school must play second fiddle to the mighty gators. I bet you were foaming at the opportunity to call the gators chokers last night had we lost.  That's what makes this victory so sweet, we are know the envy of the state. Hurricoone, and tally -crappy fans were forced to go crawl back into their collective holes.

What does a criminole or hurricone fan know about big time college basketball anyway? They havent smelled a NCAA tournament bid in ages. Expect the gator train to keep rolling. While were celebrating a national title, hurricoone fans can focus their attention on that football team that will lose 3 more games this year, and tally- crappy fans can get ready for another ass whippin to be delivered from the boys in orange & blue. BTW- TOMMY pay up sucka. Do you ever get tired of losing?

2 bits, 4 bits, 6 bits........a dollar........... all for the gators........stand up and hollaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!

Dude, if you read my post you know I gave them respect. Credit ie earned where credit is due. I doubt you would be man enough to do the same.  Roll Eyes

That being said, UM is not a basketball school and people could care less about it.

Oh yeah, on more thing:

UM - 5 time college football champ
UF - Once

i know, that is hard to digest. Enjoy this little, temporary high b/c before you know it you will be able to see the gay-tors choke again in the fall.

I'd like to add something. Being from South Carolina, I follow USC (not southern Cal) athletics to a marginal degree. This year South Carolina won the NIT, while beating Florida twice (I believe) during the regular season.

What does that mean ladies and germs? Yes, that's right, the NIT champs waxed the NCAA champs not once but twice during the season, rendering it impossible to call it a fluke.

I'll give UF it's due; they won a hard tourney, but this does make ya think...
