I think I am going to wear out the picture-in-picture on the ol' 55" toshiba tomorrow night in a frantic attempt to catch as much of the drool-worthy young pitching talent as humanly possible. Some of my favorite mound-babies are slated for their first start of the season tomorrow. Guys like Baltimore's Daniel Cabrera (facing Matt Clement and the Red Sox), San Fran's Matt Cain squaring off againt another young pitcher I love, Atlanta's Kyle Davies. My favorite young Marlin hurler, Jason Vargas, tries to carry over from a strong spring against the Mets. David Bush, who I kept expecting to break out with the Blue Jays, makes his first start as a Brewer, and finally, King Felix Hernandez up in Seattle going head to head against seriously talented oakland righty, Joe Blanton.
Gotta stretch out my remote control finger tonight...don't want to risk cramping up during the pitch-fest!
From a pure fan perspective, there are some all-star hurlers of tomorrow that I get to see today (ok, tomorrow), and from a fantasy perspective, guys like Cain, Cabrera and Blanton are those sleepers that I went heavy on in the late rounds of drafts this year (King Felix went much earlier<g>). Ask any fantasy owner what happens when their late round sleepers wake up and you'll get a smile every time.Â
