Look up the stats, according to 82games.com, Kobe Bryant is anything BUT clutch.  The most "clutch" player in the league is...drumroll...Carmelo Anthony.

It's an unfair comparison, JTex...First of all:  Anthony's been in the league 3 years, while Kobe's been in the league for, what, 9 years?  Second:  I would take the guy that makes 60 % of his game winning shots over a guy that makes 27 % of his game winning shots.  It just means Anthony works harder to take a high percentage shot.  Bryant will throw up these off-balance, fading back and to the left circus shots because he's triple teamed instead of hitting the open guy.  Sure, it looks great when he makes them, but he misses waaaay more than he makes.  So, if you must know WHO I'd take to win a game with no time left, my answer would be one of these:  Rip Hamilton, Ray Allen, Micheal Redd, Dirk Nowitzki.  Why?  Because these cats can SHOOT.

Dude, statistics aren't everything. The regular season ,and the playoffs are too different animals. You're reputation & legacy is based on what you do in the postseason. Their wasn't a doubt in my mind once kobe secured the ball he was going to drive the dagger right in the hearts of the suns.

So based on stats you'd rather have peyton manning in a pressure packed playoff situation over tom brady?


How about bottom of the 9th and you need a crucial base hit, who do you want at the plate A-rod or derek jeter?

BTW- I love carmelo anthony, but please he cant hold kobe's jock right now. Kobe is the most feared player in the league. Anthony has already choked up one opportunity in game 1 against the clippers, and the way the series is going that will probably be his last chance.

Relax, grammar boy...I was not implying that Carmelo Anthony is a better player than Kobe Bryant.  Rather, I was stating that in 2005 the player who was most "clutch" was Carmelo Anthony.  This is a fact.  His field goal percentage on game winning shots is almost TRIPLE Kobe Bryant's.  Anthony is the top choice to take a final shot, just as Bryant is the obvious choice to take the last shot.  Yet Anthony hit more of them (percentage-wise) because he does not take stupid shots he can't make.  Bryant does.

Is Bryant a better player? Yes, he is.  Would I want Bryant shooting the last shot for MY team?  No, because he can single handedly kill you with the crazy-ass shots he takes and often misses.  Would I want him taking the shot AGAINST my team?  Hell, no, because he can kill you by making some of those crazy-ass shots he often misses.

The question was:  who would you pick to take your final shot.  My answer:  Michael Redd, Ray Allen, Rip Hamilton, or Dirk Nowitzki.  Force me to pick one, I say Ray Allen.  I guess I've always loved Jesus Shuttlesworth.
