Dear Michael Finley,

Now that your season is over, I'd like to point how how much of a loser you really are. For starters, after spending your entire career in Dallas losing to the spurs in the playoffs, you have now experienced the joy (I say joy because it is my joy) of losing to Dallas as a member of the spurs. It couldn't have happened to a more deserving athelete. This very past offseason you were offered 5 million dollars, the entire mid-level exemption by the heat to play for a championship contender. You opted instead to take 4 million LESS and to play for the spurs. Now, I'm not a math wiz or anyhing, but you gave up 4 million and the career scoring boost that playing on a team with Shaq could give you in order to get bounced out of the playoffs by your former team. Classic !

Enjoy the golf,
Fau Teixeira

ps - I'll keep a spot open on my couch if you wanna drop by and watch the Heat play in the conference finals.

Technically, Finley started his career in Phoenix before being dealt to Dallas. We dealt him in a package for Jason Kidd. I think we got the better end of that one in a heartbeat.

I see nothing wrong with what Finley did.  If Duncan had been healthy all season, this playoff series could've gone the other way.

So, here are the choices: go to the team that won 3 of the last 7 championships and returns Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker, or go to a team whose marquee addition was a guy you already played with...Antoine Walker.

Playing the results is an easy way to win an argument, but the favorites to win the championship all year were San Antonio and Detroit.  You can't fault Finley for choosing to take his best shot with San Antone.

Fin will just re-sign with the Spurs and win it all next year, after the Spurs trade Rasho Nesterovic and Nazr Mohammed to the Timberwolves for Kevin Garnett.   Grin

ETA:  C'mon, Fau, you're just sad because you love Fin so much and want him on Miami's team.  P.S. - he signed a one year deal, so maybe Miami gets a crack at him this time around.  As an equal opportunity Heat-Spurs fan, that would not make me too sad.   Cool

Did George Steinbrenner buy the Spurs or something?

Next year, Finley will get to be knocked out by the "other" team he played for. The Suns will be coming into the season with Amare Stoudemire fully healthy and itching to defend the title we won "this" year.   Grin

Wow, you can't win now adays. In this day of overrated, overpaid players you are knocking a guy for taking 4 million LESS dollars and trying to win a championship ?

This may all come to pass, other that the " 'this' year" part.  I think the Mavs and then the Pistons match up too well.  Against the Heat?  50-50, due to matchups.

I think you can hang with them, I just don't know you can beat them.  With Amare in the lineup, I say "oh yeah, you'll beat them."  Without...
As for the Pistons, they're athletic and quick and bigger that the Suns.  As much as it pains me to say it, I think this is the year Dallas wins it all.

I was wondering if anyone else was catching that.

I can't fault Finley.  ...if he was going to leave Dallas, it seems like a less selfish move to go to a contender for less money.

How do you know he made the wrong decision, its not like Miami has won it all yet.

Also didn't Dallas cut Finley using that exception rule?   If so, its not like he left Dallas by choice.
