Damon draws a leadoff walk, but he should've been called out on strikes. Anyway, he takes first. Melky hits a weak grounder and Beckett goes to second. Gonzalez or Cora, I forget which saved the throw from going into CF and runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs.

So now it's Melky on first with 1 out and Giambi up. They shift for Giambi like they do Delgado and Bonds and I think Thome. Ball gets by Vraitek and he throws to second but either the throw sucks or no one is covering, so Melky goes onto third, but no one's there except Varitek. Because of the shift, the 3B is by second base, so Melky sees Varitek in all his gear and he decides to run home because no one is there. He just makes it in for the run.

As fucked up as that sounded, it doesn't nearly justify what really happened. You would think the Red Sox placed a $100 Million prop bet on who scores first.

Yeah, that's the thing with Josh. He's gonna have a lot of great games, but he's gonna have enough disaster starts to keep his ERA around the 4.50 mark. This was particularly odd though because in the first inning his stuff looked great. He really struck out Damon(shitty Ump), he got Melky to bounce back very weakly and then he got the next two guys out.

Then the second starts and boom. Maybe it's a blister problem.

Yet again, being out of market screws me and I am stuck watching a Braves game all night...

I can't download the Melky clip off of Yankees.com but damn if it doesn't sound weird how you describe it.

I enjoyed this game very much. It was a solid ass kicking. I hope Josh enjoyed it.

Sorry to be a grammar pedant, but could someone please change the title of this thread to "you don't see that every day?"

Well, I enjoyed it too but I've seen enough 17-1 Red Sox wins to know it was forgotten 20 minutes after the game ended.

Tonight Wang pitches and he isn't throwing strikes this year. That leads to lots of 2-0 and 3-1 counts and him having to throw a fastball down the middle and him getting crushed.

Even though Boston is throwing a rookie out there tonight(from AA I believe), the Yankees don't have the bullpen right now to be able to piece together 4 or 5 innings and not give up 8 or 9 runs.

Just one game in June.

If you are from the minor leagues and either don't have great stuff or have been shelled in your brief MLB tenure, you will OWN the Yankees.

Don't ask me why, that's just the way it is. They fare better against good pitchers than they do guys being called up from AAA, or in this case AA. The injuries have nothing to do with this, because no doubt Matsui, Sheffield and Jeter would be grounding out weakly too.

Hey, there's something you don't see every day: A-Rod with a chance to bust the game open, and utterly failing to do anything...

My God, I can't believe we pay that man 25 million a year.

We actually only pay him around $17 Million and Texas covers the rest, but point noted.

Oh, and kill that official scorer. They gave Cairo a hit with the ball not only going under Pauley's glove but Loretta's as well? Even if it is an error Pauley still loses, but it should be an unearned run and give the loss to Francona for leaving him in there too long.

New Yankees 'Rule': If you're brought up from the minors, and have already had a previous stint with the Yankees that proved unsuccessful, you WILL rob Manny Ramirez of a home run in the top of the 8th with a Web Gem straight from the gates of Heaven.

Aaron Rowand, eat your heart out.

Melky Cabrera is my hero. That kid from Boston threw pretty damn good. One of the best games of the year.

Tito pulled Pauley one batter too late, he shouldn't have faced Melky.

Yeah, even though Melky wasn't hitting well all night, he should've taken him out. You don't want to bring in Seanez with the bases loaded because of his tendency to walk batters. Bring him in against the MLB leader in walks was just asking for trouble.
