This hasn't been talked about at all, anywhere, but I'd like to bring it up.

Any chance that he was intoxicated at the time of the accident?  Have any blood / alcohol tests been performed?

"The Dolphins Make Me Cry.com is reporting that Ben Roethlisberger was intoxicated to 3 times the legal limit when he collided with an elderly women on Monday"

And that would have to be one helluva a night before. You burn off about a drink an hour. To still register anything at 11:00 you would have to be up very late.
